Assist Class A licensed elevator mechanics with work in the fabrication, modification installation, modernization of all elevating devices when work requires a State of Michigan Permit to Alter Elevating Devices. Inspect, repair, reset or replace contacts on control panels, doors, switches, disconnects and other devices. Inspect, maintain, repair or replace doors, tracks, car sills, door re-opening devices, outer door opening mechanisms, gibs, escalator steps, handrail drive chains, guides, balustrades, skirts, decking, comb teeth, rollers and handrails. Inspect and maintain cab interiors and flooring.
Inspect, clean and repair governors, buffers and exhaust fans on car tops. Inspect, repair or replace car, machine room and hoist way lighting. Connect and disconnect motors, gears, motor generators and other devices. Inspect, maintain and repair indicator panels and components such as buttons, Braille tags, cover plates, lights, emergency phones and smoke detectors. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications and wiring diagrams. Repair hydraulic leaks, dispose of hydraulic oil and clean up spills in accordance with EHS and other safety regulations. Hoist and rig material for installation or repair. Paint equipment including in machine rooms, pits, hoist ways and car tops. Prepare records and service reports of materials and time expended. Clean assigned area of work to include all equipment, machine spaces, top of elevator cars, pits and hoist ways.
Required Qualifications*
Class A License
Graduation from high school and specialized training in electrical and electronic repair work is necessary. Completion of an apprenticeship program in elevator maintenance and repair work or equivalent is desirable. Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods and materials involved in mechanical, electrical and electronic repair work is necessary. Considerable experience in the installation, maintenance, modernization, modification and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment and devices or elevator systems is necessary. Great Lakes Wine & Spirits is a growing statewide company seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for one of our depots in Metro Detroit.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Maintenance Mechanic will conduct preventative maintenance and repair work for our facility and its equipment. These tasks include installation, emergency and preventative maintenance, and inspection of mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, and electrical systems. Other duties include but not limited to:
Installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots conveyor systems, electrical systems, heavy machinery, and specialized equipment.
Performs level 1 troubleshooting on powered industrial truck equipment. Coordinates with day PIT mechanic when level 2 troubleshooting required.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on conveyor system, air compressor system, PIT EV batteries.
Operates machines and other equipment to observe operations, diagnose malfunctions or make repairs.
Unjam product on conveyor lines from high elevation. *Employee must be comfortable working at heights of up to 30 feet (~20% of work performed).
Document work performed in accordance with policies and procedures.
Support production by handling oddball tasks required to meet production goals.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position and will be assigned to work the Night Shift starting at 6:00 PM and may be frequently asked to work beyond the 8-hour schedule per shift.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position operates in a warehouse environment and will frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibrations where noise levels can be loud. This position may also be physically demanding in nature, requiring to lift equipment and parts weighing up to 55 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds of force. This position is required to operate warehouse equipment and to regularly read, write and communicate in English.

• We now have an opening for an Automotive/Mechanic with no less than five years of experience with repair, diagnostic equipment, and scan tools.

• Keep work area, shop, break rooms clean. Keeps work area clean and tidy attends company training.
