Responsibilities
Perform diagnosis, repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance for non-contractual customers. May assist higher-grade maintenance specialists and assist them in completing complex repairs.
Perform routine vehicle maintenance including, but not limited to, tune-ups, oil changes, tire changes, fuel filter changes, fluid checks, alignments, basic suspension replacement and light and mirror replacements
Assist or receive guidance from a higher-grade maintenance specialist to diagnose, repair or replace engines parts including but not limited to alternators, starts, radiators, and injectors, transmissions and other fuel components.
Perform basic diagnostics.
Hydraulic brake inspections, repairs, and replacements
May operate out of mobile maintenance vehicle and travel to customer yards within assigned region
Possess general knowledge and understanding of the Torque products and services
Represent Torque/Ryder to establish a relationship with the customer
Ensure proper documentation of work orders, customer repair authorizations, and repair notes within Salesforce
Perform environmental duties such as site inspections, site clean-ups/disposals, vehicle chemicals with some guidance and direction

Job Title: Paver Mechanic

The Paver Mechanic plays a key role in supporting customers and internal operations by performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on asphalt paving equipment manufactured and distributed by the company. This position ensures that all pavers and related machinery meet manufacturer standards for quality, safety, and performance. The role involves both in-shop and field service work, including customer training, technical troubleshooting, and warranty support.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair asphalt paving machines, screeds, and related equipment produced or distributed by the company.
Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new units to ensure operational readiness and compliance with factory specifications.
Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems using diagnostic software and tools.
Conduct scheduled maintenance and warranty repairs per manufacturer guidelines.
Support customers and field technicians with technical troubleshooting, parts identification, and equipment setup.
Assist in training customers and dealer technicians on proper operation, maintenance, and safety practices.
Complete detailed service reports, warranty claims, and parts requisitions accurately and on time.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve recurring equipment issues or design improvements.
Travel to customer sites as required for service calls, installations, and field diagnostics.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in diesel or heavy equipment technology preferred.
3-5 years of experience servicing heavy equipment, paving machinery, or industrial hydraulics.
Experience with asphalt pavers or related construction equipment strongly preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical bulletins.
Competent in the use of diagnostic software, multimeters, and other testing equipment.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple service priorities.
Customer service-oriented mindset with professionalism and attention to detail.
Valid driver's license required; CDL or ability to obtain is a plus.
Work Environment:
Primarily shop-based with frequent travel to customer sites, distributors, and trade shows.
Exposure to noise, moving machinery, and various weather conditions when working outdoors or in field environments.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with equipment maintenance and repair.
