Mechanical Contractors company history timeline

1960

Astro Mechanical Contractors Inc. is a mechanical and plumbing contractor, established in July, 1960 in the State of California.

The 1960's were marked by projects that grew in size and complexity.

1963

Since our humble beginnings in 1963, our company has become a leader in designing, building and servicing complex mechanical systems.

1963 – MMC was founded by Kenneth H. Gilbert.

1972

Founded in 1972, the family run mechanical HVAC, plumbing, and service organization started by a “tin knocker” with an attitude.

1972 – MMC moved to 7340 Washington Avenue South in Eden Prairie, MN, increasing their space to approximately 27,000 square feet in a location they would call home for nearly 40 years.

1975

While construction adapted to the changes, Advance took the opportunity to expand and, in 1975, opened the plumbing division.

1980

The 1980’s was a decade where hospitals grew in size and complexity and were a major source of our work.

1981

1994

In 1994, Kenny Mallick, a master plumber and gasfitter, created Mallick Plumbing and Heating, Inc.

1995

1995 – MMC designed a new logo and the company vehicles changed from brown to white.

2002

These processes influenced our expansion in 2002 when the ventilation division was added.

2004

Initially known as A&B Builders, our company was formed in 2004 by Brian Klein of Sparta, Michigan.

2004 – A group of eight purchased the company back from Exelon.

2010

In July, 2010 MMC purchased a 79,000 square foot building in Eden Prairie, MN. The new space allowed for all three trades to be combined in the fabrication shop as well as future office space growth.

In 2010, Ken made the decision to separate the construction division from the service division and he established this operation as its own company.
