Design Engineer
Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the concept and development of structural, electrical, and hydraulic components. Key responsibilities include creating CAD models and design documentation, and collaborating with suppliers, manufacturing, and validation teams to optimize designs.
Job Description
Support the design and development of structural, electrical and hydraulic components.
Conduct design reviews of new prototype components and systems.
Document all design activity with CAD models, design drawings, analysis results, and design review presentation materials.
Provide information and visit prototype component suppliers as necessary.
Review continuous improvement cycles of production vehicles and warranty improvement based on customer and factory feedback.
Work with manufacturing, product verification and validation, and suppliers to develop efficient and cost-effective designs.
Use CAD Software to assist in the 3-D Modeling of components, sheet metal and possibly hydraulic & electrical routings, including light analysis of structural components.
Prepare CAD models appropriate for more detailed analysis as necessary (i.e. finite element analysis (FEA).
Requirements
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Proficiency in engineering principles including but not limited to structural mechanics, hydraulics, and electronics.
Proficiency in 3D CAD - (Solid Works preferred).
Knowledge of typical engineering standards in drawing practice, dimensioning and tolerancing, drawing symbols, welding practice, etc.
Prior experience with off-road equipment

What You Will Do: Design. Support. Deliver.
As our Manufacturing Design Engineer, you will support custom machine and tooling orders, maintain and improve legacy product SKUs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and high-quality manufacturing execution. You will also play a key role in bridging engineering and production while contributing to new product development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Custom Tooling & Die Set Support - Design and modify tooling, die sets, and custom solutions to meet customer requirements using SolidWorks CAD.
* Legacy Product Support - Maintain and improve legacy SKUs, updating drawings, BOMs, and specifications while troubleshooting to improve product consistency.
* New Product Development - Provide manufacturing input and CAD support on NPD projects, including prototyping, testing, and manufacturability reviews.
* Manufacturing Interface & Support - Act as the technical link between engineering and production, supporting troubleshooting, process improvements, and supplier collaboration.
* Travel - Support operations with up to 20% travel to our Albert Lea, MN facility.
What You Will Bring: Expertise. Skill. Collaboration.
Education: Associate's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience: 7+ years in mechanical/manufacturing engineering, with strong experience in custom tooling and sustaining engineering.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD and GD&T, with experience in machining, fabrication, die/tooling design, and DFM principles.
Preferred Competencies: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PLC systems, CAM, welding, and prototyping.
Skills: Strong cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving, and shop-floor support capabilities.

The Senior Engineer designs functional, reliable and cost-effective, heavy-duty vehicle components. Perform engineering analysis and design or re-design, and development of components into existing and new vehicles. Provide integration and execution support for vehicle and component design.
Under supervision, perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh as well as general industry engineering standards and processes.
Support more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
Responsible for a project or part of a project of limited complexity.
May be responsible for managing multiple projects.
Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
