Experience and/or knowledge of plant system design engineering, manufacturing, assembly, installation, and/or testing

This position is primarily responsible for the technical engineering and production aspects of medium to large projects from conceptual design through construction closeout.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads in-house building systems design / engineering team through development of design and construction documentation process. Could also provide Project Engineer support as part of a larger project team on larger projects.
Develops and coordinates with all engineering disciplines and architecture team to produce construction documents. Involved in field investigations, detailed engineering design work and development of design computations.
Oversees code compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards and guidelines. Informs, directs and trains engineers-in-training and less experienced project engineers relative to these.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
* Gain knowledge about the operating procedures, process control plans and various products at one of our Cement plants.
* Understand various mechanical, maintenance, and production operations.
* Collate data, establish process correlations and develop strategies for capital projects.
* Acquire firsthand knowledge on how to ensure maximum process equipment capacity usage through continuous monitoring and improvement of process control parameters.
* Will be assigned to a real job/task and expected to make a contribution that will have an impact on the business.
* Utilize various skill sets/knowledge during day-to-day operations and to achieve team/company goals.
* Create a presentation at the end of your internship to executive leadership regarding what you have learned and what you believe you have contributed to the business.

SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT
* Work Schedule: This is an onsite role with a mandatory 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, working an 8-hour shift each day.
* In this internship position, you will be working in a cement manufacturing/production environment. Within this environment, you will be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and more.
* You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from your worksite for the summer.
* Throughout the duration of your internship, you may be required to travel for site tours, shadow experiences, or intern events.

Summary
The Project Engineer supports field activities and spends a majority of time working with the Project Manager supporting project administration on multiple small projects, or one medium to large-size projects. Activities include managing the job transition process; and supporting the management of cost and schedule, constructability, technical evaluations, quality, safety, work planning, procurement, contract management, regulatory compliance, etc.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Project Engineer will possess competency in the following areas in order to perform his/her role in a safe, productive, and effective manner. * Generates and obtains approvals of monthly billing and earned values

* Generates and obtains approval of the initial budget and subsequent updates, and reviews weekly job cost summaries and advises the Project Manager
* Generates estimates of change orders and may interface with pre-construction on original bids
* Collaborates with pre-construction and the project team to manage the job transition process, communicate project requirements, and develop the initial procurement plans, budgets, etc.
* Generates material quantity take-offs, scoping documents, terms and conditions, delivery, etc. as applicable to support the procurement process
* Generates requests for proposal(s), solicits and reviews quotations, and recommends a procurement decision to Project Manager
* Prepares field purchase orders for standard purchase packages, and generates and obtains approval of Major Purchase Orders
