Responsibilities
A typical day may include being part of a multi-discipline engineering team for major projects such as cooling water systems (pumps, motors, control systems, piping, heat exchangers) for existing or new power plants. Other days you may be leading simple design projects such as valve replacements or writing engineering reports (such as corrosion studies or pros and cons of different equipment). You will also:

Qualifications
This position covers a range of internal levels. Minimum qualifications for our mid-level position are shown below:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Minimum 3 years of experience with design of mechanical systems
Experience in one of the following industries highly preferred: engineering/design services, power generation, nuclear power, heavy industrial including chemical or pulp & paper, and government (DOE) projects
Good writing, presentation and communication skills
Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams

Additional Information:

Job Description
The purpose of this position is to plan and perform work requiring sound technical judgment in the evaluation, organization, and execution of project management assignments worldwide. This role has the responsibility to perform the essential job duties and functions as listed below with the overall objective of managing and/or coordinating project activities that are in compliance with the contract and ensure the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and Fluor profitability of the completed project. Performing assigned general duties of limited scope and level of responsibility, this position is designed to develop broader project management knowledge and experience. At this level, the role may have the responsibility as the only project engineer on a medium size project with full accountability for the general duties, or the responsibility for general duties on a larger or more complex segment of a very large project.
• Perform basic project engineering functions involving monitoring of progress, preparation of procedures, documentation of communications and meetings, and identification/evaluation of project issues and problems
• Coordinate efforts of technical disciplines, vendors and licensors
to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements and contractual obligations
• Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional organization managers and/or subcontractors
• Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitoring activities, progress, and milestones against the plans

Plant Engineer
Mechanical engineer job in Aiken, SC
Under limited supervision, provides professional engineering support to all treatment plant construction, maintenance and operations. Over sees bio-solids dryer facility operations and performs related professional and technical work as required. Reports to the Plant director.
Reviews contract drawings and specifications for plant construction and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and engineering standards.
Inspects and surveys all construction projects in progress and at completion for compliance.
Researches and recommends new products for use in plant construction, maintenance and operations.
Over sees bio-solids drying facility operations, troubleshoots problems and assists in obtaining parts as needed, maintains dryer production records.
Assists plant operators, laboratory personnel and maintenance personnel is resolving technical and operational problems as required.
Receives and responds to inquiries, requests for assistance and complaints regarding engineering functions. Responds to information requests from Palmetto Underground Protective Services (PUPS) regarding sewer line locations.
Performs general administrative / clerical duties as required, including preparing reports and records, creating forms for record keeping, entering and retrieving computer data, attend
meetings, filing documents, approving time sheets, etc.
Attends seminars, schools and conferences and reads technical journals to stay abreast of new developments in the wastewater operations field.
Receives and reviews various records and reports including laboratory reports, maintenance records and operations logs, construction specifications, product specifications, safety sheets, etc.
Maintains all architectural drawings for the property, including the physical plant buildings and sewer trunk lines and ensures surveying when necessary for updating.
Reporting to this position are four bio-solids Dryer System Operators.
REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in building science, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related field preferred.
Minimum Amount of Job-Related Experience: one to two years of professional engineering experience preferably in an industrial / utilities environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required job knowledge, skills, and abilities.
