The Manufacturing Engineer - Pressure Testing and Design for Manufacture provides technical consultative, tactical, and strategic global support for high pressure testing and operations. In addition, this position works closely with the engineering design teams to guide early-stage new product development to ensure alignment with the latest manufacturing strategies; collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing to coordinate a smooth manufacturing rollout of new products; and serve as a leader driving global initiatives focused on improving safety, manufacturing sustainability, efficiency, and standardization.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Develop, implement and maintain hydrostatic pressure test procedures and safety protocols to share best practices and ensure global standardization
Provide technical support and assist in training of personnel on hydrostatic testing equipment, procedures, and safety measures
Perform risk assessments to mitigate potential pressure testing-related hazards and safeguard workers
Conduct calculations to determine appropriate test parameters and methodologies
Maintain a thorough understanding of materials, system design, and testing techniques to improve test accuracy, efficiency, and safety
Design and develop hydrostatic pressure test tooling, fixtures, gauging, and facility equipment using 3D CAD software
Serve as the manufacturing representative on new product design teams to provide manufacturing input on early-stage product designs
Coordinate manufacturing planning and execution for new and existing products with world area and site teams through meetings and digital collaboration tools
Travel to global manufacturing locations as required

Collins Aerospace is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineering professional to support the design and analysis of gas turbine fuel system components. Our team is primarily responsible for the design and analysis of fuel nozzles, valves, and manifolds. These components operate in extreme environments and are highly engineered to meet customer requirements. You will have the opportunity to exhibit your skills in 3D modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), stress and strain evaluation including fatigue calculations, component testing, customer interactions and program execution. This position may also have the opportunity to perform project management, component performance development engineering, and research and development (R&D) responsibilities as required.
What You Will Do
Conduct detailed design work, assembly layout and the creation of solid models in Solidworks.
Perform thermal and structural analyses in ANSYS Workbench.
Develop product life predictions utilizing stress-life and strain-life fatigue methods.
Write technical reports and supports conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design reviews to ensure designs meet internal and customer requirements.
Work with cross-functional Integrated Project Teams (IPT) to develop cost-effective, manufacturable designs that achieve quality standards and business objectives of the organization.
Contribute to the IPT through design expertise, identification and management of risks, creation of Failure Modes and Effects Analyses, and design modifications to improve manufacturability.
Support operations with ongoing technical support of products in production and in the field.
Develop repairs to support the Maintenance Repair & Overhaul of our products.
Develop and implement common procedures and standard work across the team to optimize efficiency and quality.
Review completed layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning.
Design and review layouts of components, calculates stack-up of detail components, and performs major cost studies consisting of new details and/or marked prints and all supporting documentation, when necessary, to facilitate operations and ensure that established objectives and budgets are achieved.
Develop and maintain internal software tools with the objective of driving automation, consistency and efficiency amongst the engineering team.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
Qualifications We Prefer
Working experience in designing for manufacturing and assembly.
Solidworks and ANSYS Workbench experience strongly preferred.
Familiarity with fracture mechanics experience preferred.
Experience with stress-life and strain-life fatigue calculations of metallic components.
Experience with vibration testing of mechanical components.
Familiarity with design optimization tools.
Programming aptitude in Visual Basic and/or Python is a plus.
