This Liaison Engineer must have Material Review Board (MRB) experience in aerospace programs, and must be able to understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis rigor and when each is appropriate. Key job responsibilities - This position will work 2nd shift, 3:00pm-11:30pm, Monday-Friday - Review and disposition non-conformance events of the spacecraft and its ground support equipment that may occur in all phases of the Leo operations: procurement, storage, handling, manufacturing, assembly, testing, transportation, final integration, launch and orbital operations; - Develop standard repairs, rework procedures, propose design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements, improved processes and work instructions; - Document static, dynamic and fatigue stress analyses when needed to support dispositions, interpreting established structural analysis reports; - Develop analysis methods to address common structural non-conformances; - Work with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering experts to provide root cause failure analyses; - Interact with internal customers, external customers, and suppliers; A day in the life This Liaison/MRB Engineer will be providing engineering support to resolve engineering issues that arise during manufacturing and assembly processes, quality inspection and acceptance tests, through the application of engineering and design principles, consulting the engineering development teams as needed. About the team The Structural Material Review Board team is part of the Leo Structural Integrity and Analysis teams (Structural Analysis, Loads and Dynamics, Materials and Processes and Reliability) that is ultimately responsible for Integrity of not only the spacecraft but all other commodities supporting the program, inside and outside of the Mechanical Engineering group.
