Essential Functions:
Prepare calculations and drawings to support structural design of product to include concrete reinforcement, product sizing, connection requirements and overall stability analysis to meet customer demands and building codes. (Hollowcore, plank, beams, columns, slabs, wall panels)
Examine general plans, specifications and cost estimates to ensure drawings match customer expectations.
Produce preliminary engineering calculations and design work for use by Sales and Estimating in the bidding process.
Coordinate documentation and communication of construction details, loadings, etc. with General Contractors, Architects, Engineers, and Project Managers.
Responsible for checking production piece drawings for proper reinforcing, lifting and stressing requirements.
Respond to requests to review pre-pour and post-pour conditions, investigate damaged product or design issues to assure integrity of product and/or offer solutions for change or repair. Review cull reports and provide solutions within 24 hours.
Respond to inquiries by Field employees or External Customers to resolve design issues and/or address damaged product(s) on jobsites. Provide solutions that are timely and cost effective without jeopardizing product reliability.
Provide answers to questions from Outsourcers.
Create spreadsheets and other tools to standardize processes and improve efficiencies.
Stay current with building code changes.
Assist with coaching and training of EIT and drafters as requested by Engineering Manager.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate inefficiencies and standardize processes.
Attend design meetings to discuss opportunities and solutions using Molin products.
Continuing education to maintain PE license(s)
Education and Experience:
PE License required
BS degree in Civil Engineering
2-4 years experience in construction or the design/manufacture of precast
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Team player.
Knowledge of precast/prestressed concrete properties and processes for structural and architectural products.
Able to read and adjust blueprints and other construction documents.
Knowledge of structural engineering design practices and construction methods.

Mechanical Design Engineer
The Mechanical Design Engineer will work closely with the multifunctional teams including sales, operations, product support, purchasing and production. Responsibilities
Develop innovative products from concept to a manufacturable product while assuring design intent and integrity is maintained.

Perform analysis or calculations on project designs to achieve desired safety factors.
Applicable knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly Principles as well as material optimization.
Initiate and implement design related cost reductions and quality improvement ideas.

Develop and maintain design documentation including 2-D drawings, 3-D CAD designs and project specifications.
Organize and maintain BOM's for all assigned projects.

Requirements

3+ years of 2D and 3D modeling experience (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred)
Prior experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis), both simulation software and hand calculations
Demonstrated experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Must have a valid Driver's License

Under general supervision of the Engineering Director/Manager, the job of the Hydraulic Design Engineer is responsible for design efforts from inception through production in new product development or existing product design.
The Hydraulic Design Engineer will work in collaboration with other engineers, cross-functional teams not limited to sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and service. They will develop conceptual and final design solutions manage and coordinate project activities, support existing product offerings, and perform testing or analysis of new and existing products to further Astec's product line development goals.
This Hydraulic Design Engineer's scope of work will focus on Hydraulically Controlled equipment such as track screening and crushing, mobile mining, portables, asphalt milling and paving, track and mobile and forestry, and stationary equipment.
The preferred work location is Yankton SD.
Deliverables and Responsibilities:
· Perform hydraulic design engineering as it relates to Astec product development and improvement projects.
· Effectively use 3-D CAD to model designs and use other engineering tools like Automation Studio to optimize solutions
· Create, check and maintain thorough engineering specifications and drawings
· Manage engineering changes per establish company procedures
· Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing and/or design issues and implement cost reduction ideas with regards to the product
· Use root cause analysis and other problem-solving skills to determine opportunities to improve products and implement corrective actions.
· Responsible for achieving due dates and pre-defined requirements defined by management
· Be a technical resource as needed to support other departmental needs such as operations, quality, purchasing, service, et cetera
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
· Minimum of bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field
· Minimum 5 years' experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design)
· Ability to work positively and productively both individually and with cross-functional teams, customers, and vendors.
· Good organization and time-management skills with ability to adjust to sudden changes in project/priority and manage multiple tasks

· Ability to develop and/or guide necessary computations such as load development, stress analysis, performance measurement, hydraulic circuit analysis, costing, etc. and interpret the results as necessary
· Ability to lead DFMEA's.
· Researches industry standards to stay abreast of latest applicable requirements. Performs GAP analysis on standards.
· Proficient with personal computing, Microsoft Office Suite, 3-D CAD software applications (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
· Document assigned tasks as required
Travel Requirements: May be asked to travel to develop business relationships with customers, dealers, and suppliers as well as visit other sites to participate in special projects.

Office

Summary/Objective: A Manufacturing Engineer is part of the engineering team; this position develops and implements cost-effective manufacturing processes supporting customer requirements and quality standards. Responsibilities include supporting operations and project management. In addition, this position develops tools, techniques, and systems to drive effective utilization of resources with a focus on continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
Ability to lead and motivate others with excellent communication and analytical skills required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and CAD software required
Experience in plant engineering and maintenance is preferred.
Experience in lean manufacturing tools and techniques preferred.
Post-offer drug screen and background checks are required
