MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or related degree. Three years' experience working on energy conservation projects and Energy Management Systems certified to the ISO 50001 standard Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical industrial systems, such as: Thermal Processes, Compressed Air, Dust Collection, Air Make-up units, Pumps and Fans. Ability to understand/read utility bills, engineering drawings and process diagrams. Project Management skills in leading large multiple discipline projects. Analytical skills in analyzing data and providing solutions. Effective leader with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Demonstrated critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in the advanced features of Microsoft Office products. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience overseeing energy consumption and utility costs for an organization Four years' experience working on energy conservation projects and Energy Management Systems certified to the ISO 50001 standard Prior experience in Continuous Improvement and/or Six Sigma projects. Experience with steel mill operations and maintenance. Skilled in a wide degree of creativity and latitude. MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: Identify and recommend energy savings strategies to achieve more energy-efficient operation. Lead and execute energy assessments and audits across industrials systems and processes. Organize and execute energy events and energy treasure hunts Collaborate closely with end-users to build strong relationships and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies. Support tracking, analyzing and reporting the company's utility usage and cost Establish universal utility usage tracking and benchmarks for each plant to guide performance improvements. Design and deliver training programs to build employee awareness of energy management standards, operational controls, and best practices for improving energy performance in their respective areas. Lead multiple projects with a variety of teams internally and external to Charter with significant impacts to multiple areas. Assist in maintaining Charter Steel's Certified Energy Management System (EnMS) Research emerging technologies and assess the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of alternative or renewable energy solutions. Collaborate with state and federal agencies to leverage training, funding, and other resources to enhance energy efficiency efforts. Comply with all Environmental, Quality, Energy, and Safety Management System procedures and standards.
