ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITY: • Create complete 3D models of each project, including top levels assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts as needed, which require: o All assigned properties for use within analyses. o Complete and accurate BOMs. o Accurate and manufacturing-ready drawings, and design with optimized cost, strength and manufacturability. o Communication with Electrical Engineers (EE) to identify and resolve differences between Electrical schematics, Mechanical drawings, and client requirements. • Communication with IT Engineering to identify and integrate networking and communication equipment. • Use FEA to analyze parts, perform stress calculations, create tests to verify results, document analysis, and change parts as needed to optimize the design. • Research, read, and understand outside standards such as MI, RVIA code, SAE, etc. • Create, implement, supervise, and document tests verifying designs meet customer requirements. • Complete all analyses, documentation, and drawings required for Production within established time frames as agreed upon by the Operations team. • Be responsible for ensuring that the correct documents are available to the correct teams in the Company. • Communicate with other Engineers, Project Management, Production Leads to identify and implement improvement opportunities at the project level, as well as a company level. • Communicate with vendors and clients to troubleshoot designs, get information on new designs, and obtain specifications/drawings/models of components. • Analyze proposed Change Orders and communicate their assessment of the proposed Change Orders: o Affect upon the project's original design parameters. o Affect upon the project's timeline and budget. o Estimated engineering time for completion of the change. o Feasibility given the project's parameters, as well as other project demands upon Engineering. o Propagate any downstream revisions to analyses, documentation, and drawings in a timely manner. • Assist Sales & Marketing by creating 3D models and 2D drawings that can be used in proposals to customers. • Track and record work hours for each specific project daily. • Be willing to travel on a limited basis, as needed by Management. • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management. BASIC KNOWLEDGE DESIRED: o the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. o raw material, production processes (welding, machining, grinding/cutting), quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. o physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, electromagnetic, atomic and sub-atomic structures and processes. • Previous knowledge gained from experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD), SolidWorks preferred. • Must be comfortable and knowledgeable using Microsoft Office Suite. • Demonstrate understanding and application of Nomad Core Values. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods. • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment. • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: • Professional office environment with regular interaction with guests, clients, team members, and vendors. • Typical indoor manufacturing environment. Noise level is usually moderate. Safety glasses and closed-toe shoes are required when on the production floor. • Everyday workwear must be business casual/smart casual and appropriate for the office environment. • Subject to temperatures fluctuations if/when job duties require time on the production floor. • Expected to maintain a professional image and demeanor on company property and while representing the company off-site. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology Degree must be ABET accredited.. • Must have 5 years or more of verifiable work history as a Mechanical Engineer in a manufacturing environment. • Must have experience with SolidWorks modeling, drawings, and file management. • An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed may be substituted for the above requirements.
