Perform engineering functions for custom design products. These functions will include (but are not limited to:
Gear tooth geometry analysis and ratings.

Disposition Nonconforming Material Reports (NMR's).
Issue Engineering Change Notices (ECN's) when appropriate.
Support shop / assembly when questions or issues come up.

The primary duties for the MDE are:
+ Lead the mechanical design and integration of heavy truck accessory products such as hydraulic liftgates, tool storage systems, service bodies, utility cranes, winches, PTO-driven systems, and other chassis-mounted equipment
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, controls, hydraulics, and manufacturing teams to develop fully integrated solutions
+ Own product development from concept through production launch, including prototyping, CAD design, FEA, DFM, and validation testing
+ Design robust mechanical structures and assemblies using steel, aluminum, and composite materials for heavy-duty environments
+ Develop and optimize hydraulic systems, including pump/motor selection, circuit design, and performance tuning
+ Ensure seamless electrical integration of powered accessories with truck OEM or aftermarket power and control systems
+ Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation: drawings, BOMs, engineering change orders, and test reports
+ Support validation testing, including environmental, fatigue, load, and field testing

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead the development and launch of heavy-duty truck accessories and systems. This role focuses on the mechanical design, integration, and validation of complex accessory products - including hydraulic systems, structural components, and electrical integration - for use in commercial and vocational truck platforms. You will play a key role in delivering innovative, durable, and high-performance products tailored to customer applications and industry demands.
The primary duties for the MDE are:
+ Lead the mechanical design and integration of heavy truck accessory products such as hydraulic liftgates, tool storage systems, service bodies, utility cranes, winches, PTO-driven systems, and other chassis-mounted equipment
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, controls, hydraulics, and manufacturing teams to develop fully integrated solutions
+ Own product development from concept through production launch, including prototyping, CAD design, FEA, DFM, and validation testing
+ Design robust mechanical structures and assemblies using steel, aluminum, and composite materials for heavy-duty environments
+ Develop and optimize hydraulic systems, including pump/motor selection, circuit design, and performance tuning
+ Ensure seamless electrical integration of powered accessories with truck OEM or aftermarket power and control systems
+ Create and maintain detailed engineering documentation: drawings, BOMs, engineering change orders, and test reports
+ Support validation testing, including environmental, fatigue, load, and field testing
+ Engage with suppliers and customers to define requirements, resolve technical challenges, and ensure product compatibility
+ Support continuous improvement in product performance, cost, and manufacturability.
Must Haves
+ 8+ years' experience designing heavy industrial multi component products(Creo and heavy trucking would be nice)
+ Experience designing hydraulic systems(pump/motor selection, performance tuning)
+ Engineering Documentation exp(Drawings, BOMS, Change orders, test reports)
+ Experience working cross-functionally with other Engineering disciplines
Nice to Have
+ Experience designing heavy duty truck mounting assemblies
+ Experience doing 3d designs in Creo

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $57.69/hr.

As an Engineer at PLP's headquarters, you will help provide product engineering services, including product development, product modifications, and technical service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to Marketing and Manufacturing for existing product offerings.
Evaluates alternative materials for cost reductions/improved performance.
Helps with new product development and product modification work.
Helps to develop product parameters, specifications, and engineering drawings.
In conjunction with his supervisor and the Purchasing Department, works with vendors concerning tooling and part fabrication issues.

Is capable of developing and conducting material test procedures to comply with industry and customer specifications. Prepares and performs analysis in support of product development.
Uses Pro-E, SolidWorks design, or Auto-Cad software.
Qualifications & Requirements:
B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering
3+ years of product development experience
Ability to use a computer and applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
