Responsibilities: Analyze and document requirements for thermal architecture of rack- and row-based products, aisle containment, wall-mount products, and communication interfaces, focusing on both liquid and air-cooling solutions including use of CFD simulations, thermal system schematics, and selection of HVAC components Collaborate with development and simulation teams to evaluate thermal compatibility and integration of system components, ensuring alignment with established standards and guidelines Establish, communicate, and support updates and changes to the “standards playbook” for all relevant stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment, and timely awareness across engineering, product management, and business unit teams Help clarify and adapt existing Vertiv guidelines for thermal management to ensure system-relevant application and easy implementation in new product developments ensuring compliance with ASHRAE, ISO, and energy codes Collaborate with the team to ensure new product designs align with system-level thermal standards and architectural guidelines, and provide feedback from practical design and integration work to drive continuous improvement of thermal standards such as optimizing airflow management Collaborate with mechanical and standards engineering teams to ensure new product designs align with system-level thermal requirements and architectural guidelines Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in thermal management, including liquid cooling, airflow management, and new materials Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in thermal design, analysis, or standards development, preferably within IT infrastructure or related industries Knowledge of both liquid and air-cooling technologies for electronic systems Ability to read and interpret 3D CAD models (preferably Creo) and thermal simulation results (e.g., CFD); proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience managing multiple projects and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in thermal management including ASME, ASHRAE, ANSI, OSHA, ISO, ISTA, and building/energy codes The successful candidate will embrace Vertiv's Core Principals & Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.
