Summary/Objective
The Austin Company performs design-build work for the industrial and specialized commercial markets. The Mechanical Intern actively works with in-house engineers, architects, and construction departments to assist with ongoing functions. In addition to assisting with project support, each intern participates in an interactive intern-specific project. The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering inputs integral to both small and large-scale hydro and dam projects. You will lead technical teams and mentor junior staff, support production, and coordinate delivery of engineering work products with multi-disciplinary project team members and external stakeholders. Design modifications to, or entirely new, mechanical systems related to dams, control structures, water retaining structures, and hydroelectric generating stations.
Execute multiple projects from the proposal stage through to completion. Projects will include a variety of small to large projects involving water resources, flood control, and hydroelectric sectors.
Conduct site investigations, condition assessments, and provide design and construction support.

About You
To fill the role, we're looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences. Some highlights should include:

The position is primarily remote with infrequent site visits, so reliability, communication skills, and self-management are essential.
**Day to Day Responsibilities:**
+ Ideal candidate: training is provided but the ideal candidate can update data into the system and attention to detail is crucial. Someone who can work independently in a fast paced environment that can accept feedback.
+ Position involves support of senior staff in the initiation, design, and delivery of projects, particularly for single use systems. Support senior staff in obtaining, organizing, and entering data for a single-use systems database that will be utilized by a broad, cross-functional user base at company, in addition to support the triage of new single-use system designs.
+ The position requires a lot of independent work, which brings a lot of personal satisfaction and success is not largely dependent on group work. The CW will become the new Subject Matter expert of a new system within company which will be very valuable to potentially obtain a full time position. The person will be working with single uses systems and therefore interaction with almost all sites and a variety of groups at company (manufacturing, process development, supply chain, etc) giving them an opportunity to learn more about the company and how it works.
**Top must have skill sets:**
+ BS Engineering degree in related field (Chemical/Mechanical Engineering), open to new grads
+ GMP or Biotech industry experience, preferred.
+ Single use systems (engineering equipment) knowledge preferred
+ Self-starter and eagerness to learn
**Basic qualifications:**
+ Bachelor degree OR
+ Associate degree and 4 years of experience OR
+ High school diploma / GED and 6 years of experience
