Position Summary
The MechanicalEngineer will be responsible for the design, development, and technical execution of HVAC and other mechanical building systems for a variety of projects, including aviation, hospitality, healthcare, and educational facilities. Key Responsibilities
HVAC System Design: Lead the design and development of complete HVAC systems, including performing detailed load calculations, equipment selection and sizing, and ductwork/piping layouts using software like Carrier HAP or Trane Trace.
BIM & Construction Documents: Create detailed schematics, construction documents, and specifications using Revit MEP and AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company and industry standards.
Project Coordination: Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing teams, proactively identifying and resolving design conflicts through effective clash detection and BIM coordination.
Technical Analysis & Compliance: Evaluate designs for code compliance (ASHRAE, NFPA, local energy codes), perform energy modeling analyses, and recommend design modifications to optimize system efficiency and performance.
Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff and designers, contributing to the team's professional development.
Client & Stakeholder Interaction: Attend client meetings, conduct field inspections and site surveys, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), and provide construction phase support.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor's degree in MechanicalEngineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of relevant mechanicalengineering experience in a design consulting environment, with a strong background in HVAC systems.
Software Proficiency: Expert-level proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, specifically Revit MEP, is a core requirement. Familiarity with other design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is a plus.
Licensure: Progress toward or the ability to obtain Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure within a reasonable timeframe is highly desirable.
Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings. Carries out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications.
Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks. These tasks may include collection and analysis of data using established procedures, performance of routine calculations, and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
Prepares assigned sections of reports working under the close review of a more experienced professional.
Participates on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with easily interpreted specifications; assists in recordkeeping and in generating progress reports; observes relatively simple construction procedures.
Performs data acquisition and support on regulatory agency requirements.
Prepares material for reports and permit applications, gathering information, writing rough outline, and/or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations.
Attends meetings and prepares draft meeting minutes for review by senior staff.
Supports Project Coordinators in facilitating quality control reviews, editing and formatting technical documents, and providing general project team support as needed.
Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.
Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

7+ years of mechanicalengineering experience with a focus on thermal-fluid systems with a focus on heat exchanger design, analysis, and development.
Demonstrated experience designing, analyzing, and optimizing heat exchangers (shell-and-tube, fined heat exchangers, heat sinks, printed circuit heat exchangers, heat pipes, etc) for high temperature applications.
Hands-on experience in testing of heat exchangers, energy, and power conversion systems.

Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar) and experience designing complex flow paths and pressure-containing components
Experience with FEA and CFD software (ANSYS multiphysics, Nastran, or similar) for thermal stress analysis and fatigue life prediction under cyclic operating conditions
Familiarity with CFD tools for flow distribution, heat transfer optimization, and pressure drop analysis
