We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer specializing in heat exchanger design to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead the design, analysis, and optimization of heat exchangers for our thermal energy storage systems, ensuring efficient heat transfer, system reliability, and performance across demanding operational conditions. This position is based in Miami, FL preferred, however an alternate location of Austin, TX is possible for the right candidate. If hired for this role, relocation to one of these sites is required. We provide relocation assistance. Key Responsibilities: Own and develop the heat exchange system for Exowatt's power conversion unit from design and analysis in a hands-on fashion. Engage with suppliers for development, build and testing. Perform analysis of mechanical components and systems for heat exchangers utilizing CFD and FEA such as Ansys multiphysics, CAD (Solidworks, Creo, or equivalent. Design, build and test of prototype heat exchanger units for Exowatt's power conversion units. Validate models by test and analytical methods Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturing Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, controls, thermal, and software engineers Evaluate and select appropriate materials based on requirements, cost, and sustainability Design for manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability Interface with suppliers, manufacturers, and external engineering partners Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations Troubleshoot issues during testing and deployment Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on thermal-fluid systems with a focus on heat exchanger design, analysis, and development. Demonstrated experience designing, analyzing, and optimizing heat exchangers (shell-and-tube, fined heat exchangers, heat sinks, printed circuit heat exchangers, heat pipes, etc) for high temperature applications. Hands-on experience in testing of heat exchangers, energy, and power conversion systems. REQUIRES CANDIDATE RESIDENCY IN THE SOUTH FLORIDA AREA. Mechanical Design Engineer 2 with a minimum of 3 years experience in HVAC systems design. A candidate will only be considered for a position that has experience in this field. The ideal candidate will be expected to immediately step in to assist and provide support for all design aspects of assigned jobs. The candidate shall show a solid understanding of the HVAC Engineering discipline and can provide immediate support for a fast-paced environment. Candidate must have proficient knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD. Key responsibilities will include: Perform project and drawing set up tasks in Revit and AutoCAD by creating discipline specific drawing sheet using the architectural base files Independently produce basic & intermediate level HVAC designs using AutoCAD and/or Revit per applicable code under the supervision of a senior engineer Independently prepare HVAC engineering calculations required to design HVAC systems, including sizing of source equipment and distribution systems under the supervision of a senior engineer Read and learn international and local building codes to assist in producing code compliant design documents Attend project meetings as need to ensure scope of work understanding Conduct site visits to survey and capture existing conditions and author report that illustrate and describe observations and findings Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members in the design and specification development of HVAC building systems Execute construction administration duties which include first level responses to RFI and Submittal review under supervision of senior engineering staff Attend and participate in engineering industry training, events, and/or continuing education to stay current on latest engineering concepts and technologies Education and Experience 3+ years of HVAC (BUILDING) design experience in a relevant field of design Revit & AutoCAD proficiency Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited 4-year college/university is preferred

Sophomore year requirements must be completed by co-op start date. * Basic experience in CAD software (Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD, and/or equivalent) * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) * Requires a fundamental understanding and application of mechanical engineering principles * Basic understanding of various metrology equipment including calipers, pin gauges, height gauges, etc. * Basic understanding of materials engineering, metallography, and working with polymers, and plastics. * Working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. * Previous coursework or experience in Manufacturing is preferred Pay range for this opportunity is $23/hr.
