Field Engineer Intern
Signal Energy 4.3
Mechanical engineering internship job in Lebanon, KY
As a preferred Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for North American energy companies, our mission is to harness the creative energy of our people and help them reach their full potential. This focus enables us to deliver innovative solutions and exceptional results for our customers through our Core Principles, which are the heart of Signal Energy and the foundation of our strong company culture. As a culture-fit-first hiring company, we look beyond skill and education for individuals who fit within our team and values.
Our Field Engineer interns will work on a solar construction project site, gaining exposure to the Field Engineer (FE) role. The Field Engineer (FE) is an entry-level, field-based position responsible for the support and execution of an assigned scope for project construction, from early phases of preconstruction through final acceptance of the project by the client. The position works closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and supports Superintendents.
Candidates selected for this internship will be expected to relocate for the project site for the duration of the internship (per diem/housing allowance included). This position will be an hourly position and will be eligible for overtime. This project is seeking interns for the Spring 2026 or Summer 2026 semester (approximately 12 weeks in duration) at our Piedra Solar project in Mexia, TX.
Preferred Degree Programs & Skills
This position is ideally suited for students pursuing an engineering (civil, mechanical or electrical engineering) or construction management degree, with an interest in pursuing a construction or project management career.
Basic exposure to technical and administrative phases of project management.
Basic exposure/ability to read & understand IFC drawings and job specifications for civil and electrical work.
Excellent mathematical skills, including application and use in problem solving.
Strong coordination, time management, active listening, verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking, and reasoning skills.
Computer literacy and proficiency using Microsoft tools, especially Excel.
Our goals for every internship that we offer are as follows:
Provide each student with a real-world experience in construction management. Assign responsibilities, not tasks, that directly contribute to a live project. We want to help each student "harness their creative energy" and gain experience as a successful contributor to a project management team.
To help you learn and grow within our culture in order to prepare you to become a high-potential member of Signal Energy once you graduate.
Are you ready to harness your creative energy and make an impact on the future of renewable energy?
