We are seeking mechanicalengineers to provide engineering design and analysis support to diverse R&D programs and small-volume production contracts. The selected candidates would be expected to lead the structural and thermal analysis of mechanical systems for space and airborne hardware, work within a multi-disciplined project team, be responsible for mechanical design and analysis activity, and support integration and formal acceptance-test activities. Projects vary from packaging high reliability electronics subsystems to opto-mechanicalmechanism design such as gimbal and steering mirror systems.
YOU'RE REQUIRED TO HAVE THIS
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
2, or more, years mechanicalengineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
structural and thermal analysis including analytical calculations and FEA (stress analysis, modal analysis, thermal conduction analysis, bolt loads, etc.).
design using CAD software, ideally experience with SolidWorks.
tolerance analysis and GD&T practices.
space hardware design, analysis, integration, and test.
Strong technical writing skills applicable to engineering documentation (analysis reports, specifications, requirements documents, etc.).
Ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD security clearance.

What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a R&D MechanicalEngineer to provide design-engineering support during the full life cycle of surety component development, production, and ongoing surveillance assessment of stockpile devices. These surety components play a critical role in assuring the safety and security of the nation's nuclear deterrent in a wide range of environments including severe accident scenarios. You will work on mechanism components with complex mechanical interactions in assemblies of over 100 custom designed/built piece parts.
As an engineer in the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) mechanisms family, you will touch all aspects of product development from conceptual design and analysis to system retirement. We have a diverse team with wide ranges of skills and experience, and we value critical thinking skills and good mechanical insight. On any given day, you would be expected to:
* Develop and down-select design concepts

About Our Team
We are a mechanicalengineering group responsible for safety and security mechanisms (components) for Nuclear Deterrence (ND) applications. We have responsibility for conceptual design, full-scale engineering development, product characterization, product qualification, component production support, and ongoing surveillance. Mechanisms for which we have design responsibility include unique signal strong links, environmental sensing devices, and weapon release detection switches.

Summary
We have a current opportunity for a Mechanical Test Engineer 1 located at our facility in Albuquerque, NM. About the Role: As a Sr. MechanicalEngineer, you will have a key role in supporting the design, analysis, component specification, integration and operation of R&D facilities required for 21st century energetic material and Solid Rocket Motor manufacturing. Specifically, you will join a multi-disciplinary team responsible for all aspects of requirement verifications, upgrade and anomaly resolution, design, analysis, test, and integration of hardware and control sub-systems related to a disruptive new method for propellant production. About the Role: As a Sr. MechanicalEngineer, you will have a key role in supporting the design, analysis, component specification, integration and operation of R&D facilities required for 21st century energetic material and Solid Rocket Motor manufacturing. Specifically, you will join a multi-disciplinary team responsible for all aspects of requirement verifications, upgrade and anomaly resolution, design, analysis, test, and integration of hardware and control sub-systems related to a disruptive new method for propellant production. You'll know you're successful in this role when you've identified blockers, guided processes to address anomalies and performance shortfalls, verified requirements are satisfied and you've delivered on the agreed upon master schedule while adhering to environmental and safety best practices. To thrive in this role, you must have demonstrated success in fluid mechanics analysis, mechanical design, thermal/stress analysis, and test with an aptitude for hands-on definition of industrial CONOPS and commissioning of complex industrial/chemical systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Design/Analysis/Manufacture and Test of components/assemblies essential to energetic materials and/or chemical processing facilities
Demonstrated experience with common manufacturing and fabrication techniques
Experience scoping pumps, mixers, heat exchangers, ovens, precision flow meters, etc.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with Data/Automation/Controls engineers
5+ years' experience with Solidworks CAD and PDM or equivalent
Experience working in multidisciplinary teams of ~5 engineers
Experience leading teams will be valued
Analysis skills from notebook level to advanced simulation capturing stress, fluid flow, thermal and/or electrical power
Demonstrated electro/mechanical hands-on assembly and trouble-shooting aptitude
Bachelors degree or higher in MechanicalEngineering or equivalent
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Must be a US Persons as defined by § 120.62 of the ITAR

Kairos Power is looking for a highly motivated Construction Project Intern to support the team with tasks related to the design and construction of new site and facility improvements. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of project-related administrative, and technical tasks. This person will work directly with Project Engineers and Construction Management Specialists to perform the following:
Responsibilities
* Learn and apply applicable building, design, and construction codes under supervision.
* Use Autodesk Construction Cloud to support construction management activities such as requests for information (RFI) resolution, material submittals, document control, etc.
* Participate in both design and construction-related meetings.
* Prepare supplementary and supporting documentation for design and construction activities.
* Learn and apply applicable permitting requirements related to the City of Albuquerque and/or City of Oak Ridge.
* Assist with coordination and communication with local authorities, inspectors, and utility companies.
* Support construction observation activities and reporting on work progress.
* Document construction work through photos, field notes, and reports of work performed.
* Assist with coordinating vendors performing work on-site.
* Assist with maintaining organized project files, logs, and tracking tools for schedules, RFIs, and submittals.
* Support basic schedule updates or progress tracking under direction of project staff.
* Assist with reviewing construction drawings and specifications to support field coordination.
* Support compliance with internal procedures, quality standards, and safety requirements during construction activities.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Currently enrolled, nearing completion of, or recently graduated from a bachelor's or master's program in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or similar discipline
* Familiarity with CAD software is a plus
