We are looking for a contract mechanical designer with background in manufacturing and preferred experience with process piping & structural steel like bases, sheet metal, etc. Overview and Focus of the Position The Designer coordinates the collection of data from specifications, sketches, customer layout drawings and instructions provided by others and incorporate this information into detailed drawings. The designer consults with engineers, assembly technicians and other peers while preparing and presenting the drawings. Work assignments vary and are of considerable scope and complexity. Supervision is limited and work is reviewed by peers and more experienced staff as a quality procedure. Responsibilities · Creates 2D and 3D Models. · Creates detailed customer & general layout drawings. · Creates piping and instrumentation diagrams. · Creates dimensional shop drawings for fabrication, drawings include all views and dimensions necessary for fabrication of equipment. · Creates general assembly drawings. · Creates as-built drawings and when necessary takes physical dimensions of equipment to verify accuracy of drawings. · Responsible for coordinating with others to determine if drawings can be executed efficiently and within expected tolerances. · Responsible for preparing part numbers, bill of materials and specifications. · Assist in design process of new concepts.
