As an intern, you will report to a Fehr Graham Project Manager on one or several projects. That Project Manager will ensure your internship is enriching and relevant to your coursework.

Job DescriptionMechanical Designer - (Cost Estimating using AutoCAD) Department: Engineering - Estimating Reports to: Contract Engineering Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Salary Grade: 05 Summary
Determine cost estimates by utilizing the costing program, referring to previous equipment costs, and working with vendors. Create and maintain sales drawings. Review preliminary and current projects for quotation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review customer specifications and drawings checking hydraulics, mechanical and electrical; verify manufacturability, clarify discrepant information, and revise standard equipment cost to reflect project documents. Performs engineering calculations to verify the equipment will operate properly in the application.
Review vendor quotation for specification conformance and Aqua quality standards.
Determine cost estimates by utilizing system costing program, previous equipment costs, and working with vendors/purchasing. Required project Engineering and Field Service time are included in cost estimates.
Attend project hand-off meetings to confirm scope of supply, provide exception and clarification background and highlight special notes related to project costs.
Create project sales drawings.
Create and maintain standard sales drawings, collaborating with Engineering.
Serve as liaison between Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and Application Engineering to check design parameters, review job costs, and recommend product cost changes.
Review shipped projects cost and provide analysis compared to estimated cost.
Create new costing groups, proposals and specifications for newly developed or expanded product lines.
knowledge, skills and abilities
Must have 3D Inventor capability. Adept at reading and interpreting technical specifications and contract plan drawings. Strong m mechanical required. Familiarity with water/wastewater, hydraulics and electrical/control systems preferred. Must be proficient with MS Office and AutoCAD software.

Minimum qualifications
Associates Degree in Technical or related field and a minimum of 3 years of related training and experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
