This Auxiliary Systems Mechanical Engineering role will design and release mechanical and fluid components and subsystems for military ground vehicles. This includes the application of engineering principles to generate designs to solve complex problems and provide support for the build, test, and production of the designs. The system level areas of focus may include hydraulic actuation and pneumatics, automatic fire suppression, fuel, camera cleaning, LRU cooling distribution, winch and fairlead. Other possible assignments may include shock/vibration isolation and mounting of devices, stowage equipment integration, seating and crew accommodations, battery enclosures, and driver controls. Responsibilities: Mechanical & Auxiliary design engineering of fluid and distributed systems including fuel, automatic fire suppression, camera cleaning, LRU cooling, and hydraulic and pneumatics to meet customer requirements and specifications. Develops and integrates components into vehicle platforms to meet vehicle performance requirements including human factors, safety, environmental, ballistic and mine blast requirements. Conducts design, integration and analysis of mechanical components, mechanisms, and shock attenuation systems for mounting devices. Applies the mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication principles for mechanical components and complex welded brackets, mounting provisions. Supports various projects by performing analysis & design, drawing/model mark-ups, tolerance stacks along with generating source data for engineering changes. Responsible for writing material requests and shop work requests, track delivery and stock of parts, participate in integration reviews, fit checks, and author reports. Provides support to prototype, production, and sustainment vehicle efforts and follow-up, technical corrective action formulation, troubleshooting and redesign activities. Role Description & Responsibilities The Robotics Applications R&D Team is looking for looking for a talented and motivated student intern who is majoring in engineering. Our applications are used for simulation and offline programming of industrial robots. Our team develops applications for rapid development of robot programs from the product design, accurate simulation of the robot programs and generation of the production robot programs. Our software translates simulations to and from 16 different robot programming languages. The translation is both logical (converting programming constructs) and spatial (converting positional data). We are seeking an individual with interest in robotics and programming languages. This internship will provide experience with C++ and VB.NET software development. You will also get experience working with mechanism modeling and industrial robot simulation. You will create some 3D mechanical models of new robots. Additional projects may include writing software to translate new features into one or more of the robot languages, writing the software algorithms to transform data in ways that are common to many robot languages, writing software for automating the testing of the translation, or writing inverse kinematic solvers.
