ACCOUNTABILITY Perform design duties on all projects while working with other designers and BIM design staff to deliver a quality product on schedule. Interacts with other designers and clients as authorized by Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Act as the primary designer on a project. Shall include all phases of a project from kick-off to completion of construction
Coordinate all design aspects with other disciplines
Provide schematic design information to Project Manager or senior-level design staff such as preliminary calculations, design distribution, equipment sizing, and providing cut sheets of all equipment proposed
Make calculations using engineering formulas and software for design
Research and select equipment based on experience and fill out schedules
Prepare drawings and sketches to incorporate into final drawings
Research design options and document findings
Research code issues and asks code officials questions
Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards
Keep Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services
Prepare preliminary task list
Edit specifications
Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design development and work with project team to produce construction documents
Organize and maintain project files. Maintain neat and organized work area, which allows efficient access to information required by other team members.
Solve engineering problems using experience, judgment and education but is expected to ask for assistance when needed
Continue learning process by attending in-house seminars and continuing education opportunities outside of office.
Perform additional assignments as requested/needed

Assists in transportation engineering support work such as construction or maintenance inspection, structural construction or maintenance, laboratory work, landscaping, surveying or engineering data collection, operating data collection equipment, and other entry-level engineering support work.
Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.
Essential DutiesCompiles information from microfilm records and other archival materials.
Develops spreadsheets, databases, and other electronic documents.
Gathers basic data and assists with routine statistical analysis Inspects construction methods and workmanship to ensure contractors build roadways, bridges, airports, traffic signals and related highway structures in accordance with plans and specifications.
Inspects materials, equipment, and production procedures in a manufacturing plant and conducts laboratory tests to ensure construction materials meet Department specifications; as required, moves items related to these duties.
Inspects routine maintenance contract work.
Obtains material samples for analysis and assists with routine lab testing including operation and cleaning of laboratory equipment; as required, moves items related to these duties.
Performs data entry and computer-aided analysis.
Performs mechanical and electrical repairs.
Performs survey work such as positioning rod and chain.
Performs traffic counts and gathers related traffic and accident data.
Prepares base sheets, details, specifications and estimates for landscape construction projects.
Prepares required worksheets and inspection reports.
Processes various construction-related documents and maintains construction project records.
Scans airport directory drawings; files and maintains related airport documents.
Uses drafting equipment and performs hand or computer-aided drafting and calculating work.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Education: Must be enrolled in an engineering or related science degree program in an accredited college or university accepted by TX PELS.
