What You'll Do
Own mechanical design of custom modular enclosures, precision access doors, and related sub-systems in SolidWorks and Revit, delivering complete models, drawings, and BOMs.
Produce manufacturable drawings, costed BOMs, and clear assembly instructions that hit quality and lead-time targets.
Run FEA-based structural, vibration, and thermal studies to validate safety and performance.
Source & track specialty hardware - hinges, seals, actuators, filtration interfaces - working closely with purchasing and key vendors.
Coordinate with architecture, electrical, and controls teams plus outside design firms to integrate your work into overall facility layouts.
Lead design-for-manufacture and continuous-improvement projects that boost throughput, reliability, and margins.
Provide on-site support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning at both Midwest and Southeast facilities (ā10-15 % travel).
Maintain CAD libraries, engineering change documentation, and best-practice design standards in the PLM system.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar).
5 + years designing custom equipment, enclosures, or capital projects.
Expert with SolidWorks (or comparable 3-D CAD) and comfortable integrating models into Autodesk Revit/AutoCAD plant layouts.
Working knowledge of machining, sheet-metal, welding, and general fabrication processes.
Familiarity with FEA tools; able to interpret standards, specs, and codes.
Strong communication skills for vendor, cross-discipline, and client coordination.

**Responsibilities**
The **Mechanical, Process, Structural or Civil Engineering** interns will perform meaningful work in support of the SRMC organization. The selected **Mechanical, Process, Structural or Civil Engineering** interns will be assigned to 1 of 4 SRMC production facilities or Design Engineering where the interns, as part of a mechanical or structural-structural Mechanics Engineering group will:
- Work daily on various technical topics with an engineering mentor
- Provide assistance to system engineers to assess system health, prepare/review design changes, determine replacements for obsolete parts, troubleshoot system equipment, review work packages, support/resolve installation technical issues.
- Work with data management/organization to assist in developing tools associated with system health, and spare parts.
Additional Information:
The internship is expected to be a 10-12 week period from May 2026 until the end of July 2026. Housing is not provided, but reasonable rentals may be available through local university student housing offices. The selected candidate will be responsible for their own transportation.
A 40-hour work week is set and scheduled by the individual departments. SRMC utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), etc. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. Interns will be paid a competitive hourly rate; no summer interns will be assigned to shift work; overtime is not available; Interns will be paid for site holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th) as applicable.
Assignments will be located in SRMC facilities in Aiken, SC. Public transportation is not available, and interns will be required to arrange their own transportation. A valid Driver's License, Registration and proof of automobile insurance is required for driving on the Savannah River Site.

Job Summary
The Generator Mechanic/Service Technician will consult with the Service Manager to plan their work and travel schedule in the surrounding area. Using our company-supplied vehicle, you will travel to the customers residence to perform repair work and preventative maintenance on the customers whole home standby generator. You will regularly use verbal communication and customer service skills to communicate directly with our customers. You will use mechanical and electrical knowledge of generators or small engines to troubleshoot and repair whole home standby generators for our customers. This work will require the ability to read and understand technical manuals, instructions, electrical wiring diagrams, and blueprints. When repairs and preventative maintenance are complete, you will use electronic/written communication skills to update the software system with information regarding services you performed. This position will frequently work around electricity and will require the ability to adhere to all safety practices and requirements.
The work schedule will typically be Mon-Fri from 8 am-5 pm. The work schedule is subject to change to support the needs of our customers, for example during times of bad weather/impending storms.
The level of electrical and mechanical repair knowledge, years of direct generator repair experience, and previous experience working directly with customers will all be taken into account when determining what ones starting pay level would be within this range.
