**Responsibilities**
The **Mechanical, Process, Structural or Civil Engineering** interns will perform meaningful work in support of the SRMC organization. The selected **Mechanical, Process, Structural or Civil Engineering** interns will be assigned to 1 of 4 SRMC production facilities or Design Engineering where the interns, as part of a mechanical or structural-structural Mechanics Engineering group will:
- Work daily on various technical topics with an engineering mentor
- Provide assistance to system engineers to assess system health, prepare/review design changes, determine replacements for obsolete parts, troubleshoot system equipment, review work packages, support/resolve installation technical issues.
- Work with data management/organization to assist in developing tools associated with system health, and spare parts.
Additional Information:
The internship is expected to be a 10-12 week period from May 2026 until the end of July 2026. Housing is not provided, but reasonable rentals may be available through local university student housing offices. The selected candidate will be responsible for their own transportation.
A 40-hour work week is set and scheduled by the individual departments. SRMC utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hours/day; five days per week), 4/10s (10 hours/day; four days per week), etc. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. Interns will be paid a competitive hourly rate; no summer interns will be assigned to shift work; overtime is not available; Interns will be paid for site holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th) as applicable.
Assignments will be located in SRMC facilities in Aiken, SC. Public transportation is not available, and interns will be required to arrange their own transportation. A valid Driver's License, Registration and proof of automobile insurance is required for driving on the Savannah River Site.

This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning May 27th, 2026.
This internship will be based at our site in Holly Hill, SC.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
* Gain knowledge about the operating procedures, process control plans and various products at one of our Cement plants.
* Understand various mechanical, maintenance, and production operations.
* Collate data, establish process correlations and develop strategies for capital projects.
* Acquire firsthand knowledge on how to ensure maximum process equipment capacity usage through continuous monitoring and improvement of process control parameters.
* Will be assigned to a real job/task and expected to make a contribution that will have an impact on the business.
* Utilize various skill sets/knowledge during day-to-day operations and to achieve team/company goals.
* Create a presentation at the end of your internship to executive leadership regarding what you have learned and what you believe you have contributed to the business.

* In this internship position, you will be working in a cement manufacturing/production environment. Within this environment, you will be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and more.
* You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from your worksite for the summer.
* Throughout the duration of your internship, you may be required to travel for site tours, shadow experiences, or intern events.

In support of our fleet of gas turbines, the hot gas path (HGP) engineer will be responsible for building 2D and 3D finite element models of turbine components;running thermal, structural, modal or forced response analysis with thermal and mechanical loads followed by lifing (LCF, HCF, creep, oxidation, fracture mechanics), postprocessing of modal results (frequency/Campbell diagram creation);and presenting in Design Reviews. Will focus and work in PowerPoint, review 2D & 3D models. Emphasis on classic ANSYS as this is the key tool that will be used. The HGP engineer will heavily support root cause analysis (RCA) work.
Skills:
At least 4 years of engineering design experience in gas turbine engines
Must have availability to be flexible with working hours given this is a global team.
Must be able to handle export-controlled material.
Prior experience supporting or leading root cause analyses (RCA)
