Responsibilities
Design industrial balancing machines, tooling and associated equipment in accordance with industry regulations, international codes, and customer requirements.
Develop design models, assemblies, and detail drawings in SolidEdge.
Generate accurate BOMs in Industrios (ERP system)
Document work thoroughly, follow SOPs & perform appropriate design engineering calculations
Prevent mistakes and take corrective action to meet the Quality Management System (ISO 9001)
Conduct internal & external (customer) design reviews & technical discussions
Assist internal departments (Procurement, Production, Sales, Service, Tech writing).
May be required to occasionally visit customer sites (

Gather information for changes in work and turnover to estimating for pricing. P.M. will finalize C.O. pricing after estimating completes takeoff and attempt to maximize profit on C.O.s. Ensure no work starts prior to approval or notice to proceed.
Assist field personnel in closeout of project.
Obtain as-builts from field
Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Project Manager with recommendation for resolution.
Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in MechanicalEngineering or a related field.
2-5 years of experience in mechanical design, industrial equipment general arrangements, equipment setting, and piping plans/elevations/isometrics preferably within an industrial setting.
3D CAD experience in Plant 3D (including modeling industrial equipment (boilers, chillers, pumps…) and routing pipe/duct/cable trays within 3D environment.
Laser scanning of industrial sites, working with point clouds, and stitching/aligning scans together
Formulating Navisworks models from baseline point clouds and using Edgewise for within the point cloud
Cutting plan and elevations drawing from the 3D model, both equipment layouts and piping layouts
3D CAD experience in Plant 3D
Laser scanning, working with point clouds
Formulating Navisworks models from baseline point clouds
Cutting plan and elevations drawing from the 3D model.
Pulling Piping MTO's from the 3D model.
Working with vendor STEP files and incorporation into 3D models.
Input pipe specs into Plant 3D such that isometric piping drawings show the correct Bill of Materials.
AutoCad 2D experience with equipment and piping layouts but also with P&ID, PFD, Riser diagrams and other 2D drawing formulations.
Experience formulating General Arrangement drawings, Equipment setting drawings, Piping and Pipe support drawings (both orthographic and Isometric), P&IDs, and PFDs.
Knowledge of MEP would be a plus.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

This role is ideal for a smart, sharp, and driven engineer with a strong grasp of concept-level design, schematics, and construction drawings. The ideal candidate will be proficient in AutoCAD and Revit, with experience in Mechanical systems design for mission-critical environments.
As a subject matter expert, you will have a direct impact on the design of prototypical Data Center sites, provide technical design guidance and vendor oversight, solve large-scale implementation issues, and build a strong understanding of site design and program requirements.
The successful candidate will develop and implement design strategies to expand the firm's expertise, footprint and profitability in Critical Facilities and Digital Infrastructure. Our client is looking for a Critical Facilities Engineer that has expertise in Mechanical / Cooling Systems Engineering and Design for data center and infrastructure development efforts, specifically for large data centers. This challenging and unique role will involve the initial design specifications and prototype of mechanical / HVAC / Cooling systems for new data centers and expansions to existing data centers. The ideal candidate will have experience and in-depth knowledge of Mechanical / HVAC / Cooling Systems / Controls System design and installation. Knowledge of heating and cooling load calculations, ductwork and piping sizing, selecting HVAC equipment, energy modeling, CFD / Computational Fluid Dynamics and other engineering calculations. Previous experience with mechanical equipment design to include: HVAC , Boilers , Chillers , Pumps , CRAC / CRAH Units , Air Handling Units , etc.). You will help lead the design team and working / communicating with all the trades and stakeholders involved in all projects.
Responsibilities:
Manage projects, create designs and plans, provided and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary electrical engineering design role for all sizes of data center facility design projects- enterprise data centers, Colocation Providers and for Hyperscale Companies.
Create Conceptual Designs gathered from meetings with the client
Create Prototypes that will create the schematics that will be basis for RFPs / RFIs
Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policies
Represent the company in project meetings
Collaborate with all design staff and oversee full cycle electrical design activities
Interact closely with the Project Management Team to produce construction documents, develop and edit project specifications and lead the construction administration process
Execute and lead design teams and design projects of complex scope
Perform intermediate to advanced mechanical design tasks including development of cooling systems and topologies, infrastructure and equipment layouts and selection / sizing of equipment
Utilize AutoCAD and Revit software to prepare drawings
Review and / or prepare book or sheet specifications for mechanical systems
Develop and / or review sequences of operations
Proposal development including project scope, schedule and budget
Effective management of project design team including resource forecasting and coordination
Identify potential project scope changes and aid in development of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines
Support contact for design clients and builds effective, long-term client relationships
Survey existing building conditions / Conduct Field Observations and prepares technical reports of findings and commissioning support
Represent the Operations team in startup, testing, factory witness testing, commissioning, and turnover
Prepare project design and construction documents
Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in MechanicalEngineering a MUST
Professional Engineer or on tract for a PE ( current FE or EIT) a big plus!
5+ years' experience in mechanical systems design for Data Centers or Mission Critical Facilities.
Previous experience working at an Engineering Consulting firm, A/E, MEP a MUST
Experience with hyperscale / colo / enterprise / complex data center design / mission critical facilities design projects a must
Previous experience using: Revit MEP projects, AutoCAD MEP, BIM, Trane Trace or IES VE Energy Modeling software a plus
Previous experience with heating and cooling load calculations, ductwork and piping sizing, selecting HVAC equipment, energy modeling, CFD / Computational Fluid Dynamics and other engineering calculations
Experience with Mechanical / HVAC / Cooling Systems / Controls System design and installation.
Extensive Experience with Mechanical / HVAC Equipment: HVAC , Boilers , Chillers , Pumps , CRAC / CRAH Units , Air Handling Units , etc.
Knowledge of codes and specifications for the design of mechanical systems including National Electric Code, Life Safety and Energy Conservation Codes
Site asset acquisition experience a plus; someone that can assist with determining the viability of converting an existing building / brownfield into a Data Center
Experience with creating concept-level design, reviewing drawings, and schematics
Experience performing field observations during construction
Understand and apply building codes, permitting, local regulations, and standards
Knowledge of mission critical equipment and systems, design process, pre-construction requirements and the construction process
Demonstrated ability to evaluate the design and constructability of site design by third-party consultants
Ability to effectively communicate complex project details and market information and analysis at all organizational levels to include senior leadership, utility partners, and local stakeholders
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with internal staff, external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders
Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Self Starter, self motivated, Strong problem-solving skills and should prioritize well and have the ability to successfully work independently and within a team
Active participant in local data center organizations (7x24, AFCOM, DCD, Uptime Institute, DICE Bisnow, etc.)
Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus! (Navy nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force - Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)
