PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The Opportunity

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician III who will report to the Mechanical Engineering Team Lead within New Product Research & Development. This position will participate in Design Engineering Functions with responsibility for fabricating, assembling, and testing electro-mechanical subsystem prototypes and test fixtures designed by engineers in cooperation with the design engineering function. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, prototype assembly, test fixture design, part fabrication, failure analysis, problem solving and design verification testing. The individual will be responsible for continually improving relevant engineering and testing methods, supporting system level testing, ownership of the on-site machine shop, leadership skills, and managing deliverables. They will ensure completion of activities balancing quality, cost, and time. This position is located in Rochester, NY.

The Responsibilities
Conducts prototype assembly, testing, and analysis within a larger R&D activity.Develop, assemble, and test products to support existing project programs.Design, build, and utilize engineering test fixtures for subsystem evaluation.Fabricate prototype subsystem/fixture parts in on-site machine shop.Oversee maintenance, safety, and training protocols for on-site machine shop.Support existing products in the field through root cause analysis, obsolescence evaluation, and continuous improvement.Ensures on-time completion of activities within compliance.Identifies and implements process level efficiencies.Within guidelines, has flexibility as to method, priority, and timing of job duties.May be responsible for project or process reporting and tracking.May oversee reporting of regulatory processes or parts of processes.Travel to suppliers in support of concurrent engineering, supplier involvement and failure investigation, as required.Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual
Minimum High School Degree required. Associates Degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred.Minimum 3 years' experience with an Associate degree, or minimum 6 years equivalent work experience is required.Must have Subsystem and System engineering experience.Must have Product Engineering and Development Experience.Some machining experience is required with CNC programming preferred.LabVIEW programming & fixture design preferred.Less than 10% domestic/international travel required.
