This individual will repair, maintain and install various types of electromechanical machinery and control systems. This position works closely with higher grade technicians to resolve difficult or unusual problems. They will implement other projects related to plant maintenance and equipment preventive maintenance as required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Performs complex tasks required to maintain equipment functionality and minimize downtime.
Uses advanced knowledge of PLC/CNC/HMI and motion control and robot software to troubleshoot equipment and make repairs.
Uses advanced knowledge of PLC to perform programming functions as required.
Identifies trouble areas and determines corrective action.
Observes electro-mechanical and hydraulic devices in operation.
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts or to locate and adjust wiring, tooling, fittings, etc that do not reconcile to schematics and drawings.
Sets up and programs and troubleshoots advanced control systems.
Performs preventive maintenance to maintain equipment within manufacturer specifications.
Disassembles equipment as required to replace defective components and return to an operational condition.
Assists with lower level technicians, setting priorities and providing training as needed.
Understands and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
Completes work in compliance with ISO 14001 and 9000, forklift training, and other safety training courses as prescribed.
Must be available for emergency service during off hours.
Maintains appropriate level of technical and professional skills by attending training classes, seminars, exhibits, and trade shows as needed.
All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience.
Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.
Specifications
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years related formal training in engineering or related field.
Certified apprenticeship graduation in Mechatronics, Electronic or Mechanical Technician a plus.
7 to 10 years related experience.
Advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic maintenance and equipment integration.
Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic blueprints, drawings and documentation.
Advanced training in PLC/CNC/HMI motion control and robots, able to program in S7 Graph, LAD and CSF.

Inspect and test electronic and mechanical equipment and devices to identify and proactively correct potential failures. Plan and schedule repair activities to minimize production downtime including working over shutdowns, weekends and holidays. Interpret and follow complicated drawings, instructions and specifications. Proficiency in knowledge of control elements, power supplies, control circuits, instruments, relay logic, integrated circuits, AC/DC motors, motor controllers, hydraulics, mechanical power transmission, mechanical controls,SCRs, pumps and linear slide systems. Able to read, understand and program PLC ladder logic for diagnostics and system upgrades. Observe all plant and department safety requirements during inspection and repair of equipment. Equipment and machinery supported includes but not limited to:

• AB SLC PLCs, Fanuc CNC and Siemens CNC machine control systems
• SCADA systems and Operator Interfaces
• Hydraulic, pneumatic and pump systems
• CNC Turning Lathes and Milling Machines
• Precision Grinding Machinery
• Facility Infrastructure systems
• Heat Treating furnaces Minimum Requirements:
• Associates Degree in Mechatronics Technology
• Thorough knowledge of electronic, mechanical and electrical principles.
• Must be willing to work any shift.
• Must be willing to work over-time. Preferred Requirements:
• Experience using complicated electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings, advanced shop mathematics and handbook formulas.
• Experience using other forms of maintenance equipment such as optical alignment, vibration analyzers, ultrasonic detectors, oscilloscopes, etc.

**Representative (Apprentice)**

**This role in summary**

Whirlpool is looking for qualified candidates for the role of Representative (Apprentice) in the Laundry, Dishwasher, Cooking, and Refrigeration laboratories. These positions are located at Benton Harbor, MI. **This is a four-year program with on-the-job training and required college-level classes paid through Whirlpool.** This opportunity is coordinated with the apprentice, the State of Michigan, and provides the apprentice **with a mechatronics technician certificate and Associate Degree in Mechatronics upon completion.** The Mechatronics Technician apprenticeship program is accredited by the State of Michigan.

**Your responsibilities will include**

+ Will complete 8000 hours of on the job training

+ Complete the required college-level classes in skilled trades

+ Obtain a base level understanding of all the areas within the laboratory

+ Work on Whirlpool products as requested in Lab Request system to produce internal and external certification documents

+ Operate a wide range of equipment common to a laboratory environment: data collection, measurement, analysis, Microsoft and Google office tools, etc.

+ Work in all areas of the laboratory including safety, codes, performance, energy, electrical, structural, developmental, and reliability testing

+ Deliver testing and data on time

+ Show acceptable progress in a given area as seen through evaluations provided by the mentor

**Minimum Requirements**

+ High School Diploma or GED

+ Experience using manual skills in assembly/disassembly and the use of measurement equipment

**Preferred skills and experience**

+ Excellent communication and thought leadership

+ Ability to follow detailed test procedures & standards. Create test reports

+ Experience with or ability to use Microsoft and Google office tools

+ Ability to collect and interpret data based on instructions and to create documentation / reporting documents

+ Basic level of electrical and mechanical knowledge

+ Support lean lab process efficiency
