Barbaricum is seeking a Media Relations Specialist - Sustainable Transportation (Department of Energy) to provide client-facing communications support to the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). This role directly supports the EERE Communications Director and EERE federal Media Leads. This individual will support EERE federal Media Leads with developing and executing effective local, regional, and national media pitch strategies for EERE and DOE-level announcements and events. This individual will also assist with responses to media inquiries, conduct targeted media pitching, and facilitate and plan media interviews.

This team currently works remotely, subject to any changes to Government customer guidance. Candidates for this position must be open to and comfortable with the possibility of a return to on-site work.

Executes media relations and internal communications for the health system. Responds to media inquiries, schedules interviews, arranges and plans media events and visits, and serves as a staff writer and editor. Writes press releases and proactively pitches news stories to various media and provides follow-up. Performs other duties as needed in the Marketing Department to promote the health system including assisting with events as needed. Serves in editing and/or writing capacity for various publications produced by the Marketing Department. Produces weekly newsletters and internal communication materials for the health system and follows set guidelines for approval on all written communication. Assists other departments with communications projects.

Working with the manager, initiates and controls the flow of public information and access to the media and other external audiences. This involves research, interviewing, writing, editing, speech writing and/or interaction with all types of media, local, regional, and trade industry press as required.
