Medic One company history timeline

1960

The Seattle visionaries who founded the Medic One program in the late 1960’s believed that bringing an advanced life support system right into the home of a heart attack victim could improve the chances of survival with early pre-hospital intervention.

1969

In late 1969, the first class of 15 Seattle Fire Department personnel began a training course, designed specifically to provide pre-hospital treatment of patients with cardiac complaints.

Doctor Leonard A. Cobb along with then Seattle Fire Chief Gordon Vickery founded Seattle Medic One in 1969.

1972

In 1972, the Seattle City Council declined to pick up funding for the program.

1975

In 1975, the Medic One Program physically expanded to include the training of paramedics from other emergency care provider groups within King County.

1977

In 1977, the first paramedics came to work in King County.
