Working side-by-side with our ICU physicians in a hospital setting, the medical scribe documents in real time into EMR for up to 40 patients. This job requires adaptability, critical thinking, and exceptional listening skills. This is a paid position requiring some holidays and weekends.
Job duties include the following:
Listen to and translate into sensible electronic form the treatment, services, and plans discussed by the physician during ICU clinical rounds.
Quickly and efficiently type in the EMR all encounters performed by the physician during daily rounds in a manner and format as required by both the practice and individual physician preferences.
Type into the EMR proper diagnoses, care plans, medications, and discharge/follow-up instructions.
Check on the progress of, and retrieve reports and other information (labs, x-rays, etc) for the providers to review.
Requirements:
Must be able to type at speed of 90 wpm or greater.
Must be 20 years of age or older with a strong knowledge base of medical terminology. Knowledge of vocabulary used in the ICU setting is highly preferred but not required.
1 year of scribing experience HIGHLY PREFERRED
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time while following the physician during rounds and patient visits.
Must be able to handle highly confidential information within HIPAA regulations.
Must be willing to work mostly EVENING and WEEKEND shifts. We're looking for 8-12 shifts per month with each shift averaging 3-5 hours each including holidays and weekends on a rotating basis.
