Optum Pediatrics Cedarhurst, part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team. The Medical Receptionist is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical and service goals.
Schedule: This is a 37.5-hour work week, Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The schedule will be determined by the hiring manager upon hire

Primary Responsibilities:
Greets patients as they arrive and manage appropriate standard wait times
Complete check-in and check-out tasks to include insurance verification, complete pre-authorizations and/or precertification of procedures, and copy required documents
Collects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receipts
Processes walk-in patients and visitors
Answers phones and schedules appointments
Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed
Manages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)
Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Medical Assistant Position
Hudson Health is currently searching for a professional, compassionate, knowledgeable and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Medical Assistant at Hudson Medical. This individual will be working closely with physician assistants, medical providers, and medical staff in order to optimize the current patient workflow.
In this role, the employee will be potentially responsible for a wide variety of tasks including but not limited to, clinical work of timely and accurate transcription of medical information into the EMR system, setting up procedures, triaging patient flow, and aiding providers with pain management injections. Administrative tasks with regard to patient care and follow-up. Employees will supply operational support to the practice by maintaining medical equipment and keeping examination rooms properly supplied and ready for patients.
Responsibilities
Assisting in medical pain management procedures, primarily injections.
Operating radiological equipment.
Sterilization and documentation of equipment.
Prepping and cleaning operating rooms
Ability to work on own initiative
Provide compassionate patient care.
Connect patients to IVs
Desired Skills and Experience
Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills
Competence in EMR, Athena Health System, Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to handle stressful situations with discretion and professionalism
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Detail-oriented with highly organized work skills
Knowledge of medical terminology and treatment processes
Secondary language is a plus (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese)
Education and Certification
Graduate with a BA/BS degree or Certified Medical Assistant
1 - 3 years of experience within the medical field in rehabilitation orthopedics and pain management preferred, or in a concierge service or hospitality field

They are located in a state-of-the-art facility that has EMR, Digital X-Ray and onsite PT/OT. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with no call, weekends or evenings!
Successful Physician Assistants must be NCCPA-Certified and have experience in orthopedics.

About the Opportunity:
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Hours: Flexible 35 hours a week

Responsibilities:
Monitor patient arrival and coordinate patient flow with the Physician and other care team members to ensure a positive patient experience
Escort patients to exam room, monitor patient wait times, assist patient in preparing for exam and advise the Physician when patient is ready
Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests and documents in EMR
Perform blood draws and EKGs, as ordered
Assist the Physician with procedures as appropriate (e.g. sets up area, obtains equipment, and supplies, witness consents as needed)
Assist patients with referrals, appointments as necessary
Keeps adequate supplies available by inventorying stock on a regular basis; maintains inventory of pharmaceutical samples and maintains log book for review
Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant (MA)
High School Diploma / GED
Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) program
Medical Assistant (MA) certification
CPR certification
EKG and Phlebotomy training
