Essential functions of position include, but are not limited to:
1. Data Entry required for claims processing, create and drop claims as Providers lock encounters
.2. Enter Billing notes in Athena
3. Responsible for resolving patient billing questions and concerns regarding outstanding claim balances regarding co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance
.4. Establish Payment plan agreements as needed.
5. Print billing summary for medical records release and itemized summaries of charges as requested by patient
6. Review/respond to/resolve claim scrubs, front-end denials, and appeals as designated by Market Billing Coordinator, including providing feedback and assistance to clinics in preventing the recurrence of problematic claims.
7. Researching claims denied for prior authorization and attaching authorizations and needed attachments to process claims
8. Process returned mail and correct addresses/notify clinics of invalid address on file
9. Review provider letters from 3rd party carriers and handle or route to appropriate person for processing.
10. Work on special projects, as needed, and other duties as assigned.
11. Maintain professional demeanor at all times with patients, caregivers, physicians and co-workers.12. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and laws.13. Assumes other duties as assigned.
Required Skills• CPC Coursework or CPC Certification or equivalent preferred.• Technical proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and medical software systems (PM/EHR).• Ability to follow written procedures.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
