Ensure that tests are prepared properly at all stages from specimen collection through results reporting, and performs additional special handling of the specimens if necessary or requested (i.e. radiography, photography, special fixation, cultures and tissue procurement). Perform the proper operation, repair and replacement, and preventative maintenance of area equipment and tools. Maintains record logs for the equipment. Competent at operating the Laboratory Information System and Medical Archival Retrieval System relative to the functions of the pathology assistants team. Continually provides and participates in on-the-job training conferences, seminars and continuing education to ensure competence and awareness of most recent technology and advances in the field. Oversee the proper handling, storage and disposition of all surgical and autopsy tissue while adhering to the regulatory and compliance standards regarding biohazard and safety. Pathologists' Assistant: Graduate of a NAACLS accredited, Master's degree pathologist's assistant training program, or Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or Medical Technology or a related field and 5 years clinical experience in Anatomic or Clinical Pathology is required. In lieu of an approved MA Certification, we will also except the following certifications at the time of hire: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing or LPN or RN EMT - Emergency Medical Technician (verified through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant Primary Responsibilities: Complete provider orders per state and provider regulations Perform Clinical Intake with patients to include taking and recording vital signs and patient history Assist patients as needed with walking, transfer, specimen collection, exam preparation, etc. Complete occupational health testing including such services as urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing, hair testing and physicals Complete patient referrals and patient callbacks daily Proper, concise and complete EMR documentation and paper based documentation for all assessments and procedures Other duties as assigned such as new models of care and new types of procedures, etc. Manage inventory of supplies; restock exam/procedure rooms Maintain clinical supplies and equipment and ensure proper storage of biohazards Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to protocol Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
