Provides nursing personnel and physician offices with verbal test results and pathology reports, referring any problems directly to the Supervisor. Mails and faxes laboratory reports to physician offices as necessary.Keeps laboratory reports filed and up to date by making every effort to complete the filing generated on his/her shift, is able to locate and retrieve information from the files as requested. Communicates daily request for courier service for PKU specimen transport via internet order placement process. Performs weekly quality control of laboratory eyewash stations, as assigned. Adheres to all safety protocols including standard precautions, transmission-based precautions, and other infection control policies.Is able to work efficiently and organize work during heavy workload situations to expedite patient results. Minimum Qualifications
Education
* High School Diploma or GED required
* Completion of Phlebotomy coursework required
Experience
* Previous experience in high volume outpatient lab or inpatient setting preferred
Licenses and Certifications
* CPT - Phlebotomy Technician Certification Certification in Phlebotomy preferred and
* Certified Medical Lab Scientist-ASCP ASCP or equivalent MLA Certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
* Moderate Computer skills to perform Data entry and specimen verification
* Experience with computerized laboratory information systems
* HIPAA policies on Confidentiality
