Position Overview:
We?re seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join a busy orthopedic practice with a focus on upper extremities. The role is primarily clinic-based with one surgical day most weeks.
You will work across multiple locations (which is negotiable), providing continuity of care for a consistent patient population.
Schedule & Locations:
Monday?Friday, 8:00 AM?4:00 PM
4 clinic days and 1 surgery day
Surgery: 1 day most weeks (negotiable based on candidate preference and experience)
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and manage follow-up care
Obtain patient histories, review imaging, and perform physical exams
Assist with injections, aspirations, splinting, and dressing changes
Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging
Coordinate surgeries, obtain pre-authorizations, and provide post-op care
Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans
Educate patients on procedures, recovery, and preventive care
Provide limited OR assistance and on-call coverage as needed
Collaborate closely with surgeons, medical assistants, and other team members to ensure efficient patient flow
Patient Volume:
Daily clinic census: approximately 20?25 patients per day
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program
Active Georgia license (or ability to obtain)
Minimum 2 years of orthopedic experience strongly preferred

Resident Services

Medication Administration
1. Follow the six ‘rights” of medication assistance (right resident, right drug, right dosage, right time, right route, right record/documentation) each and every time assistance with a medication occurs. Check each of the six “rights” of medication assistance three different times: when the medication is taken out of the medication cart, immediately before assisting with the medication, and immediately after assisting with the medication
2. Assist with medications to residents according to their Medication Observation Record (MOR) and protect resident privacy. Provide residents with any treatments required as part of their Resident Care Plan as designated. Document clearly and accurately on the Medication Observation Record (MOR) after a medication is taken/given, refused, held, discontinued, changed, disposed of, returned, following the Oaks Senior Livening policy.
3. Respect the residents' right to refuse medication/treatment. Protect the residents' safety with medications. Explain to the resident what medication is being given and why, prior to assisting with medication.
4. Observe the resident for any adverse reaction to a medication and report it to the Wellness Director and/or the Executive Director immediately. Report all medication errors honestly and immediately.
Communications
1. Attend all regular staff meetings and required in-service training sessions.
2. Effectively communicate residents' needs with caregiver staff at change of shift according to the Oaks Senior Living policies and procedures. Effectively communicate to the Wellness Director and/or the Executive Director any changes noted in a resident's condition or behavior, adverse reaction to a medication, any resident or family member concerns, complaints, refusal of a medication, any errors noted on the Medication Observation Record (MOR).

Your Impactful Role
Escort patients to exam area and prepare for exam.
Interview patients to determine medical problem/condition and documents in e-chart.
Obtain and record patient's vital signs and weight.
Assist physician's orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patients.
Collect samples, such as urine and blood from patients for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples.
Obtain patient's history and orders x-rays.
Schedule diagnostic studies/surgery.
Prepare and assist with injections/aspirations.
Prepare specimen for laboratory and complete required forms.
Perform dressing changes and remove sutures/staples and application/removal of casts, splints, braces.
Fit DME E-charge, and/or Physical Therapy referral.
Maintain stock within modules.
Provide patients with educational materials regarding diagnosis, directions for self-care and mobility related to disease, surgery, diagnostic studies, and equipment/casts.
Ensure compliance with OSHA standards regarding blood borne pathogens.
Prepare prescriptions for signature and e-prescribe.
Schedule pre and post op appointments and coordinate work-in appointments.
Communicate schedule changes and clinic cancellations to team members.
Assist team with rescheduling clinics cancelled with < 7 days' notice.
Monitor biohazardous waste and prepare for disposal.
Obtain x-ray and imaging results and store in JOINTS, including import outside discs into JOINTS and X-ray backup available for single member team.
Obtain diagnostic results from appropriate source and scan report into Athena and match to close out order.
Serve as liaison between patient and physician.
Coordinate consultations with other physicians.
Provide staff coverage for other clinical personnel, as needed and at the request of Clinical Management.
Complete applications for handicap parking permits, FMLA, disability forms, and work excuses.
Document all aspects of visit in Athena to include Meaningful Use criteria.
Management support for MD to enter diagnosis codes.
Schedule all OR cases and maintain surgery schedule.
Responsible for all patient phone calls (clinical) ensuring proper documentation in Athena of action taken/advice given.
Telephone and/or send eRx prescriptions to pharmacy on MD request/approval.
Notify manufacturer's reps of surgical cases to ensure correct implants available in OR.
Coordinate special equipment, bone graft, etc., needed for surgery.
Wipe tables, change pillowcases, and straighten items in room.
Attend meetings and perform duties as requested.
Other duties may be assigned.
