Department Summary
University Health Services (UHS) is a unit within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) outpatient clinic providing primary care to students at the University of Oregon. All staff are required to uphold the values of the UHS.

Position Summary
The purpose of the MedicalAssistant position is to assist University Health Services medical staff in providing primary care and acute care to students at the University of Oregon.
This position assists with the delivery of excellent patient care by assisting the UHS medical providers with patient scheduling, transporting, check-in, vital signs, in-office procedures, vaccinations, assigned administrative duties, and treatments within scope of practice. Work Schedule:

Special Qualification:

Crisis Intervention Skills: Perform intensive crisis interventions, leads, collaborates with, and directs staff during interventions, conducts assessment of suicide and homicide risk and creates safety plans as appropriate.
Assessment Skills: Conducts face to face assessments of the physical and psychological well-being of clients within one hour of the initiation of the emergency safety intervention.

The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the administering of medication to residents.
Job Responsibilities:
Administer medications to residents as ordered and under the direction of the attending physician
Administer medications in accordance with established nursing standards, policies, local procedures and practices, and requirements of the state
Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications ordered for a resident
Complete necessary forms, charts, and reports in a timely matter
Ensure all medications administered are properly labeled, returned, and reordered

POSITION SUMMARY

UNDERFILL OPTION:

Employees hired into the MedicalAssistant level position as an underfill will be hired as a MedicalAssistant underfill and then re-classified to the MedicalAssistant upon passing trial service and meeting the minimum qualifications for that classification.

Minimum Qualifications
The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:
MedicalAssistant - Health Care Technician 1 (HCT21)
* Technical training beyond high school in MedicalAssistingor a directly related field that allows for a State or Federal recognized medicalassistant certification; AND
* One year of work experience in a similar field or work setting (e.g., nursing assistant, home health aides, personal care aides).
* Must have State or Federal recognized medicalassistant certification at the time of hire.
MedicalAssistant Underfill - Health Care Assistant 3 (HCA13)
* Technical training beyond high school in MedicalAssistingor a directly related field that allows for a State or Federal recognized medicalassistant certification; AND
