Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Medical Technologist Discipline: Allied Health Professional Start Date: Duration: 26 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Description: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result; Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens; Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs). Review and release test results. Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and all maintenance performed; Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Follow department's procedure in reporting STATS or Critical results to clients. If applicable, answer questions from customers or other lab personnel. Maintain complete records of all testing performed on-site. Maintain general appearance of the department. Make sure reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and if applicable opened dates. 15. Review/train on new procedures. Attend monthly department and any additional training/educational meetings. Participate in all applicable safety training sessions. Know the location and contents of the safety manual. Know the location/use of all applicable safety equipment. If needed, participate in government or regulatory agency inspections. Perform other duties as directed by supervisor. Required Knowledge: A solid understanding of basic laboratory testing is required for this position. The successful candidate must possess good computer skills and be able to adapt to working in multiple computer systems. Must have knowledge of QC and QA as well as knowledge of all areas of the laboratory. Education: BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493. 1433 published in March 14, 1990. Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation). United States educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript. A successful candidate should possess or be eligible for national certification as an MT / MLT from a recognized organization (ASCP or AMT). Work Experience: 1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred. Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology. National and State licensure as required. Special Requirements: Must have the ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously. Must interact with other departments. Contact with clients may be required, good customer service skills are important. Must protect patient confidentiality at all times. Duties & Responsibilities: * Greet our patients and customers as they enter the store, identify patients' need to ensure an easy and memorable experience while providing promotional products and services available. Answer customers' inquiries and gather necessary information to facilitate sales. * Foster a strong partnership between the retail team and professional services. * Schedule and confirm appointments, enter new patient history and personal information in the system, complete pre-test; obtain brief medical history, complete noncontact tonometry auto refraction, visual acuity, color test, stereopsis test, amsler grid test, etc. * Assist Management Team with patient complaint resolution and inform the status of all jobs; ensure all patient expectations are met. * Ensure brand standards by performing basic housekeeping duties when necessary. * Execute simple customer repairs, assemble lenses into frames and edge stock lenses to expedite delivery of eyeglasses, and ensure customer orders are delivered accurately and on time. * Ensure brand standards are met in the lab area, and notify management of equipment malfunctions, incomplete orders, incorrect lenses, etc. * Keep track of delivery time commitments to patients (Now Service, Ready When Promised) to ensure 100% compliance. * Other duties as assigned and required Key Qualifications * You have a high school diploma or equivalent. * You have 2+ years of experience delivering outstanding customer service to patients and/or customers. * You have the skills necessary to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people. * You implement active listening, build rapport, and empathize with the patients. * You remain proactive and execute problem solving skills to address potential patients concerns or rebuttals. * You have a collaborative spirit, while building respectful and cordial relationships with your team and patients. * You are driven by results and have the ability to multitask, prioritize and be flexible with changing business needs in a team environment. * You have a passion for customer satisfaction and maintain a positive demeanor. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Assist doctor in a prompt and courteous manner. Completes chart prep on scheduled patients prior to every visit. Verifies and maintains current and accurate clinical records, charts and medical history through electronic medical records during patient visits. Assures integrity of all documentation. Maintains current and accurate clinical records and charts through electronic medical records. Completes end of visit reports on the day of visit and shares with management. Provides daily feedback and works in conjunction with branch office to optimize schedule and reporting. Maintains confidentiality of all information; abides with HIPAA, OSHA and PHI guidelines at all times. Reacts positively to change and performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: High School education or GED. Must have own reliable transportation, good driving record and car insurance. Must have completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test. Good computer skills required. Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to follow directions and listen to needs of patients and doctors. Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires standing, walking, pushing and stooping on a periodic basis. Lifting requirements vary depending upon specialty division hired for (Audiology and Vision: less than 50 pounds, Podiatry: minimal lifting). Must be able to push patients in wheelchair. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. At times, requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
