Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to protocol.
Document patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
Provide patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.

Responsibilities and Duties
Follow the policies and procedures of the facility governing the administering of medications to residents.
Note and report errors in the administration of medications.
Assist in developing and implementing procedures or programs of the facility that seek to determine what medication errors are taking place, when, where, and why they occur, and how they can be prevented.
Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, charts, reports, etc., and submit these as may be required.
Ensure that documentation of the drug receipt error includes a written error report, signed by an observer/witness and you.
Accurately measure, record, and report the vital signs of residents.
Promptly notify the Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor, or Director of Nursing Services of any errors or reactions to medications by residents.
Follow the medication card practices of the facility.
Follow the facility procedure for recording the order in the resident's clinical record, including the type, route, dosage, frequency and strength of each medication.

Qualifications and Skills
Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or its equivalent.
Must be a licensed Level I MedicationAssistant having successfully completed a state-approved training program and any necessary examination(s) in accordance with laws of this State.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and to communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting with residents, families, and staff members.

About the role
POSITION SUMMARY
MedicalAssistant provides care for the patient under the physician's direction. Includes preparing patients for exams, assisting during treatments, coordinating tests and follow-up care, and recording treatment in their electronic health record. Assists with explaining patient instructions to the patient/family. Demonstrates competency and skills to serve patients in geriatric populations.

What you'll do
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc. and document all information in patient's electronic health record.
* Interviews patients to obtain their medical history.
* Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filled out and available in patients' electronic health records prior to their appointment.
* Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, keeping patient information confidential.
* Prepares exam rooms for patient examinations; Assist physician or onsite specialist in exam rooms
* Assist primary care physicians in executing virtual appointments in patients' home.
* Disinfects, cleans exam rooms following patient examinations.
* Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following Sage Health policy and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
* Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required; Properly dispose of contaminated supplies
* Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
* Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, etc.)
* Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls.
* Make calls to pharmacy, diagnostic facilities, etc. As required by the primary care physician or onsite specialist.
* Draws blood, removes sutures, changes dressings.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma or equivalent substitute.
* Minimum Experience: 2 years; combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience.
* Minimum Certifications and/or Licenses: CPR and first aid certification required; CMA/RMA preferred.
* Experience with EMR, MS Word, Excel, MS outlook.
