The Medical Office Assistant provides administrative support to the clinic staff, greets and assists patients with their appointments, and ensures the patients' charts are in order in accordance with Medicare and company policies and procedures.

What You Can Expect:
Enters treatment information into the MIS.
Initiates, maintains, and completes the medical record.
Assists in other data related needs which may include entering episodes of care, responding to requests for data from the Network or DCI request.
Prepares meeting agendas and minutes as requested.
Maintains accurate treatment statistics, including treatment dates, hospital dates, no-show information, and information on absences. Provides reports to the nurse manager or area operations director.
May perform duties of receptionist including sorting and distributing mail, answering and routing phones calls, greeting and directing visitors, and other clerical duties.

Summary/Objective:
Collaborates with the provider to determine the needs of the patient and assists the provider with providing quality medical care to the patients.
Essential Functions:

Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.

Prepares and stocks examination and treatment rooms.
Clean and sterilizes instruments.
Assists provider with minor office procedures.

Triage patient phone calls per site's protocol.
Process Prescription Refill requests per Physician's protocol.

Laboratory testing may include Rapid Tests, Urinalysis, Bilirubin, Auto CBC, and Phlebotomy.
Reviews lab and test results. Provide follow up to patient per provider's instructions.
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide health education to the patient as needed.
Performs all duties in compliance with Galen's clinical policies and OSHA standards.
Maintains clean and neat work area.
Active participation in process improvement efforts.
May be required to assist other team members based on office demands.

Education:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Must be a Certified Medical Assistant from a nationally accredited institution.
One year of relative medical assistant experience in the clinical setting is required if completion of a Medical Assistant program qualification is not met.
1-3 years' clinical medical assistant experience is preferred.
Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.
Experience:
Previous Clinical and Phlebotomy experience is preferred.
Individual must be BLS trained and certified at all times.
