JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a MedicalAssistant, Certified responsible for performing a variety of duties depending on whether it is a small clinic, large medical practice, multi-clinic, or a specialty office. They may be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Care Responsibilities- rooming patients, collecting histories, charting, answering phone calls, completing forms
Clerical Duties- prepping clinics, obtaining test results, updating charts, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, coordinating referrals and appointments
Fulfills EOC Responsibilities- cleaning exam rooms, ordering and stocking supplies and restocking exam rooms, cleaning exam tables, maintain safe work environment by checking for expired supplies, medications, emptying sharps containers
Organizational Duties- promoting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, following HR, Compliance and Joint Commission policies
Responsibilities that vary according to state law, which include autoclaving, checking vital signs, suture removal, dressing changes, entering orders based on physician protocols, biohazard waste, blood drawing, applying DME to a patient
Other duties as assigned by your manager or HCA.
As assigned by clinic leadership, develop the ability to remove cast, apply basic splints and cast to the upper and lower extremity. Accurately fit all DME products used in the clinic.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from accredited MedicalAssistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
High school or GED graduation required.
Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
1 year prior experience in a clinic setting preferred
BLS required

During a planned closure of the facility due to training, closures before or after holidays family down days, Employee will only be compensated for the actual hours worked. If clinic is closed and employee is not able to work, employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty).

Assist physicians at assigned long term care facilities with audiology, optometry, podiatry care, and behavioral health. Main duties include maintaining clinical records and charts through electronic medical records, care and cleaning of medical equipment, and supporting provider.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Assist doctor in a prompt and courteous manner.
Completes chart prep on scheduled patients prior to every visit.
Verifies and maintains current and accurate clinical records, charts and medical history through electronic medical records during patient visits.
Assures integrity of all documentation.
Maintains current and accurate clinical records and charts through electronic medical records.
Completes end of visit reports on the day of visit and shares with management.
Provides daily feedback and works in conjunction with branch office to optimize schedule and reporting.
Works with staff to coordinate and maintain patient flow during facility visit (may remove socks/shoes, may push wheelchair).
Balance and generate daily production reports and provide to manager on day of visit.
Accurately posts charges to the appropriate provider in a timely fashion.
Works in a medical office capacity provided by the facility.
Responsible for all care and cleaning of medical equipment at the end of every visit.
Maintains medical supplies inventory by auditing stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies.
Manage resources by preparing supplies with minimum waste or need for duplication.
Ensure all medical equipment is working properly by completing preventive maintenance requirements and following manufacturer's instructions.
Responsible for clean-up of service area used facility upon departure of visit.
Able to multitask, be detail oriented and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
Ensure a positive experience for our patients.
Communicate effectively with all patients, family members, providers, faculty, and staff.
Provide timely responses to patient inquiries; document conversations in the EMR.
Requires travel up to 100% of the time to and from assigned medical facilities up to 2.5 hour radius.
Actively supports and complies with all components of the compliance program, including, but not limited to, completion of training and reporting of suspected violations of law and Company policy.
Maintains confidentiality of all information; abides with HIPAA, OSHA and PHI guidelines at all times.
Reacts positively to change and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School education or GED.
Must have own reliable transportation, good driving record and car insurance.
Must have completed and passed a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.
Good computer skills required.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Must be able to follow directions and listen to needs of patients and doctors.
Physical Demands:
Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Requires standing, walking, pushing and stooping on a periodic basis. Lifting requirements vary depending upon specialty division hired for (Audiology and Vision: less than 50 pounds, Podiatry: minimal lifting). Must be able to push patients in wheelchair. Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range. At times, requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. At times, requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.

Position Summary
We are seeking full-time MedicalAssistants at Advance Community Health (a Federally Qualified Health Center) at each of our locations in Cary, NC and Apex, NC. The MedicalAssistant will assist the health care and administrative team of the medical office, provide optimum health care to patients and prepare them appropriately for the examination with the provider.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform basic prep according to Advance Community Health guidelines.
* Assist RN or provider with patient triage, to include telephone triage.
* Complete information gathering segment of triage with specified patient population.
* Refer all problems and urgent needs to RN or provider and conduct patient follow-up post encounter.
* Make follow-up calls to patients as directed by the provider.
* Manage provider messages and test result reports in accordance with established site procedure.
* Manage prescription and refill medication request paperwork under the direction of the provider and Schedule appointments.
* Review treatment related preparation instructions and follow-up educational material with patients and families as directed by provider or RN.
Other Duties Assigned
* Maintain appropriate monitoring logs.

Education and Experience
* Must have certification from a medicalassistant program or military medical corpsman program.
* 1-2 of experience in a medical setting.
* A high school diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent.
* Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems.
Preferred Skills
* Fluent in English and Spanish- written and verbal communications.
