The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing an excellent customer experience in a team based environment while assisting in all aspects of medical practice under the direct supervision and responsibility of a physician or physician assistant. This position is responsible for patient safety, performing phlebotomy, point of care testing, assisting in minor procedures, processing lab specimens, safe operation of medical equipment, provides patient instructions, and for handling and administering medications according to regulatory standards and organizational policy and procedure under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant. This position is responsible for the collection, communication and documentation of accurate patient information/data and maintaining medical records according to regulatory standards and organizational policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include coordinating requests for information and prescriptions, maintain and preparing patient care areas to ensure efficient, effective and safe patient care delivery. Late hours, holidays and weekends may be required. Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor of the department.

Mondays: 7:15 - 3:15 = 7.25 Hours
Tuesdays: 7:15 - 5:45 = 11 hours

40 hours a week
Rotating Saturdays from 8A Noon (Approx. every 8 10 weeks)
When a Saturday is worked, the Friday will be cut short by 4 hours.
Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required. Completion of a medical assisting program or postsecondary medical assisting program accredited to prepare the medical assistant to take national CMA (American Association of Medical Assisting), CCMA (National Health Career Association), or RMA (American Medical Technologists) medical assistant certification exam preferred.
Experience:
Medical Assistant experience preferred but not required for graduates within 2 years completion of a medical assisting program or postsecondary medical assisting program accredited to prepare the medical assistant to take the national CMA (American Association of Medical Assisting), CCMA (National Health Career Association), or RMA (American Medical Technologists).

Position Objective:

This position is responsible for patient safety, performing phlebotomy, point of care testing, assisting in minor procedures, processing lab specimens, safe operation of medical equipment, provides patient instructions, and for handling and administering medications according to regulatory standards and organizational policy and procedure under the direct supervision of a physician or physician assistant. This position is responsible for the collection, communication and documentation of accurate patient information/data and maintaining medical records according to regulatory standards and organizational policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include coordinating requests for information and prescriptions, maintain and preparing patient care areas to ensure efficient, effective and safe patient care delivery. Late hours, holidays and weekends may be required. Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor of the department. This position is required to float to all LPG and Hospital Outpatient Department locations across four counties.
Requirements
Experience:3 years of Medical Assistant experience in a physicians office or hospital outpatient department with medication administration with injection experience required.
Certification:AAMA (American Association of Medical Assisting), CCMA (National Health career Association), RMA (American Medical Technologists) preferred. BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support) required (must be obtained within first 90 days of hire).
License:N/A
Other:Medical terminology, communication skills and basic knowledge of computers required. Early/late hours and/or weekends may be required.

Sample of Responsibilities:
* Prepare exam and treatment rooms for patient and physician use
* Perform patient intake; vital signs, medical history, and medication review
* Assist physicians in the exam room during physicals and procedures
* Record patient charts in the management system in a timely and accurate manner
* Maintain the strictest confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations
Minimum Requirements:
* A certification/registration from an accredited program for medical assistants (CCMA, CMA, RMA, or ABR-OE) or a minimum of two years working as a medical assistant and the ability to get certified/credentialed within six months of employment
* Great attention to detail and the ability to record information accurately
* Ability to develop and maintain a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with providers, staff, and patients

* One year of medical assisting experience or a combination of medical education and work experience
* CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire
