    $20.62 - $25.79Performs a variety of services for the Criminal Justice Services Department and program clients relating to medication and medical needs. The Medical Assistant provides monitoring and auditing functions on all Department client medications. Monitoring and auditing responsibilities include ensuring all medications are stored, dispensed, and ingested, in accordance with department procedures and doctor orders. The Medical Assistant will also assure thorough and accurate documentation is recorded and maintained according to established procedures. Responsibilities include making recommendations during case review meetings that require medical expertise. The medical assistant with also facilitate client and staff educational classes relating to medical issues, contagious diseases, health, sanitation, and hygiene. The medical assistant will perform a wide variety of duties including serving clients, customers, and staff on the telephone and/or in person. Provide administrative and technical support. Assess client needs and provide appropriate education and referrals. Administrating routine COVID-19 tests on clients. Prepares Medication Room and assists Staff with clients medication monitoring. Monitoring client medication a minimum of five times per week, or more as the workload allows. Monitor and help to educate clients on medication that involve injections. Data entry of client's medical prescriptions into the facility software system. Liaison with the medical providers and pharmacy. Auditing of client prescription medications bi-weekly including count of medications and data entry of medications in the software system. Will assist in the removal and destruction of medications. May assist in dietary education and help set up treatments for client on special diets. Responsible for maintaining written records and statistical information relating to client medical issues, medication audits, and proof of compliance with required standards. Liaison with medical providers and other agencies (MCDF, Department of Corrections, DHS). May observe medication monitoring by non-medical staff and provide feedback. Data entry of client medical information as required into the software system. Explain procedures to client and answer basic to complex questions. Assist in setting up post operation care plans. Confirm receipt of medical release information and data entry of this information. Review Medical Treatment forms as needed and perform follow up when necessary. Maintain confidentiality of all patient/client information. Responsible for stocking and sanitizing client medication areas and medical equipment. Manage supply inventory; order necessary supplies. Prepare necessary releases to obtain medical records from other health care providers; forward client medical records to other providers based upon receipt of signed authorization from client. Act as a Department liaison with physicians and other medical professionals in dealing with client medical questions, issues, or special client medical conditions.
