A Brief Overview
Performs selected medical assistant and clerical duties that assist in care for clinic patients following established standards, practices, and competency. Works collaboratively with other clinic staff to solve practice-related problems. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer's status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the population served in the department.
What you will do
Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency.
Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record.
Maintains timely flow of patients.
Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Responsible for assisting with patient and family education to include procedures, medication use, nutrition, disease processes, and maintenance of health and wellness, etc., based on competency.
Greets patients and conducts clinical interview collecting history and vital signs.
Labels and processes lab specimens according to lab procedures.
Maintains exam room for necessary supplies and materials. Performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance. Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment according to policy. Follows correct procedures for handling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste.
Provided back-up help for front desk personnel. This may include answering telephone, scheduling and cancelling appointments, and scheduling consult patients.

Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the resident during the scheduled work period in long term care. Communicates resident's changing condition and care related concerns/responses to the charge nurse. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs. Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational. Provides assistance and documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate. May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
Qualifications
High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
Minimum age of 16. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement. CNA training and certification required and provided by facility.
Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually. Maintains all department specific required certifications.
When applicable, for applicable states, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
Dependent on facility and required responsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor
vehicle report and proof of valid driver's license. Also must be medically qualified to perform the essential driving functions of

POSITION PURPOSE:
Ensure proper dosage and distribution of medication in accordance with state regulations
Take vital signs, respond to emergencies, record information in a resident's medical record
Assist in management of the medical record as needed, and any other assigned duties to support the medical department as they have certification or documented training on
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Maintain adequate stock of drugs, ensures that storage of drugs is in compliance with prescribed conditions of temperature and humidity, and verifies that all drugs are labeled properly
Prepare medication for resident
Distribute medication and instruct residents in proper application/consumption of medications per the directions of the physician
Record each distribution of medication in resident's medical file
Take vital signs and records on the appropriate document
Responsible for documenting, faxing, following up, and providing documentation required for all authorizations for each entity requiring prior authorization for any and all medical care
Perform glucose testing by glucometer as directed
Perform additional duties as assigned
Will also perform duties as Certified Nursing Assistant when needed as well
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience
• Completion of state approved Nursing Assistant Program for the state in which the facility operates Current certification and listing on the state Registry.
• Completion of a standardized Medication Administration training program for unlicensed personnel in nursing homes through the state in which the facility operates Current certification and listing on the state Registry.
