Prepares patients for exam by measuring vital signs, reviewing screening questionnaires and accurately records information in patient chart. Addresses or alerts provider of concerns
Reviews and updates current medication list, problem list, patient medical history, surgical history, and family history, making changes as needed. Addresses or alerts provider of concerns
Follows established standards and protocols
3. Administers injections and medications as prescribed by the provider and in accordance with protocol, regulatory requirements, and standards of practice.
4. Prepares and assists providers with various procedures exams as designated by the provider
5. Implements standing orders.
6. Performs various tests upon the request of the provider, including but not limited to: phlebotomy, hearing tests, EKGs, breathing treatments, and vision tests.
7. Collects blood or other laboratory specimens and prepares them for further testing.
8. Participates in test tracking and monitors overdue results.
9. Administers the in-box to ensure patient communication and follow-up is completed and Clinician time is used wisely.
10. Assures exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit; maintains and cleans medical instruments and equipment after each procedure.
11. Assists provider and patient in reviewing and revising care plans and assesses patient progress; follows up with patient between visits as necessary.
12. Assists with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventative and chronic disease services.
13. Collaborates with care coordination to communicate all pertinent information for promoting coordinated activities among specialists, hospital admits, and emergency department visits to obtain all necessary patient information as well as any other necessary information needed to ensure continuity of care.
14. Actively participates in performance improvement initiatives to improve overall patient experience and quality of care.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The hired Medical Assistant will be responsible for rooming patients, taking vitals, hearing and vision screenings, and Point-of-Care testing. The MA will also administer vaccines, dispense oral medications and respiratory treatments, while also collecting swabs/specimens for testing/processing. The clinical staff will oversee the training of new/added team members to ensure continuity of care.

What your responsibilities will be as a Medical Assistant:
Proper intake of the patient (history and chief complaint)
Documenting during the exam on our EMR system
Assisting with Medical Procedures such as removing sutures, administering local anesthetic, and applying patches for allergy testing and transcribing reaction strengths
Deliver patient education and documentation on disease, would care, medications, and pathology Reports and diagnosis.
Properly conducting Prior authorizations for medications/sending medications to pharmacy as prescribed by Provider
Schedule follow up appointments at the end of each exam
Responding timely to messages sent by patients to you or the team (24 hours)
Ensuring start of day/end of day tasks are completed
Completing all duties in accordance with HIPAA and other medical regulations
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
What we look for:
EMR experience and fluent in a variety of software packages
Graduate of an approved school or at least 1 year of Clinical Medical Assistant experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Organization, punctuality, professionalism and a presentable, polished appearance

The ability to work in a fast pace team environment and being able to adjust to different Provider's styles and preferences

* Medical assistant (MA) is positioned within the workforce to gather, screen, communicate and act based on delegation from a provider, registered nurse or Licensed Practical nurse as per scope of practice.
* Clerical responsibilities include greeting patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and updating patients electronic medical record (EMR).
* Clinical responsibilities include rooming patients, taking medical histories, performing and recording vital signs, preparing exam room for procedures, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, facilitation of patient flow through the office, and assisting the Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant during examinations.

Essential Functions:
Communicates to both doctors and patients using appropriate medical terminology.
Take a thorough detailed chief complaint, past medical history, social history.
Scribe objective and plan portion of encounter note at doctors direction.
Take xrays
Assist physicians with minor in office procedures.
Educate patients on conditions and treatments.
Maintain inventory, supplies, equipment, and sterilization of instruments.
Clean and sterilize rooms in a thorough and prompt manner.
Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously.
Will support and cover for other staff members as may be requested.
