SSM Health-Dean Medical Group, a 500-physician multi-specialty group, is actively recruiting an experienced Physician Assistant, Cardiothoracic Surgery to work in our well-established Cardiothoracic Surgery Department. The department currently consists of 3 physicians and 6 APs. Physician Assistant must have post educational experience as a practicing PA in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital's robotic surgery capabilities are unmatched in the region, positioning us as one of only a handful of centers nationwide with the ability to offer robotic cardiac as well as thoracic surgery. We perform the whole gamut of adult cardiac and thoracic surgery including CABG, Valve surgery, Aortic aneurysms and dissections, pulmonary resections and decortications. We do not perform ventricular assist devices.
As the ideal candidate, you would have surgical first assist experience and a strong attraction to the operating room. Must be able to function and thrive within a high-functioning team. The new providers responsibilities will include assisting in the operating room (including endoscopic and open vein and radial artery harvesting); patient care on the Cardiothoracic Surgery in-patient unit; night call on weeknights and weekends (anticipated 1 in 6 for each) for floor patients and for the operating room; and rare outpatient clinic care. For weekends, rounds and then call from home for OR. There are full time intensivists for patient care. The floor patients are managed by physician assistants and call is from home over the phone.

As an Orthodontic Assistant, you will be an integral part of creating beautiful smiles for our patients. You will be part of a dynamic team of orthodontic professionals who are passionate about providing excellent care. Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide direct patient care under general supervision of licensed personnel, maintaining and operating specialized equipment, and performing any other duties deemed necessary to insure optimal patient care and physician service. Assists provider in seeing patients; gathers and records vital signs and medical histories, prepares patients for examination, draws blood, initiates toxicology screens, and administers medications as directed.
Records information in electronic medical records (EHR) database or paper chart and gathers all essential components from demographic sheets/consents/credit policies/charge slips, updates medication, and history.
Completes necessary paperwork as ordered by provider including printing prescriptions, work restrictions, referrals, and scheduling diagnostic testing.
Participates in the correct scheduling of patients, appropriate communication with the scheduling department.
Obtains and documents vitals and data regarding modified Aldrete and discharge readiness scores. Assists in discharge of patient with appropriate paperwork.
Assists in the performance of chart review on daily basis to ensure completeness and accuracy of patient documentation.
Assists in keeping ASC orderly and follows appropriate cleaning protocols.
Acts as scribe for provider recording patient information as dictated, when requested.
Helps support Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement initiatives as a part of the team.
Facilitates communication to physician and health care provider regarding questions about treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians' instructions to patients.
Always participates and maintains safety and dignity of patient.

Surgical: Applies and monitors principles of aseptic technique throughout intra-operative period. Assists provider by having all necessary equipment available and ready. Effectively communicates with health care providers regarding patient questions and needs. Documents accurately in EHR, creates encounters as needed, properly updates, and utilizes medication module. Tasks and communicates with providers regarding triage needs.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Certified MedicalAssistant certification prefered but will train the right candidate for this role..

Qualifications

Preferred enrollment in a MA, CNA, EMT, Nursing or related program
Exceptional customer service and communication skills in both verbal and written form.
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, leadership, time management, follow-up and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work positively among diverse groups of individuals promoting a “TEAM” environment and “Leads by Example.”

Major Responsibilities:
Adheres to MedicalAssistant scope of practice, follows all policies and procedures, and maintains training and competency based on area of specialty when providing patient care.
Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings (depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health, etc.).
Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
Performs lab related duties such as venipuncture, specimen collection/labeling/packing, preparation of lab orders/requisitions, and results tracking. Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Completes Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards.
Administers medications and vaccines safely following the rights of medication administration.
Performs other duties as assigned such as medication refills, insurance authorizations, safety/regulatory log completion, patient messaging, medication/supply ordering, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
Cross trained to perform duties that are relevant to specialty or clinic practice within the scope of the MedicalAssistant.
Demonstrates effective and timely communication, teamwork, and appropriate escalation.
Maintains a clean work environment ensuring instruments and equipment are cleaned appropriately. Ensures equipment and supplies are in working order, and areas are appropriately stocked.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of an accredited or approved program in MedicalAssistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a MedicalAssistant within the last 5 years.
Certification / License
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
Ability to lift 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available.
Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case- by -case basis.
Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine-hand manipulation skills.
Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, blood and body fluids. Will be required to wear protective clothing and equipment as needed.

Position Requirements:
No prior experience or certification required. Graduation from an accredited medicalassistant program preferred.
If certified/licensed, candidates must hold and maintain either a State of Wisconsin Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license or Certified MedicalAssistant (CMA) certifications issued by one of the following:
