We are seeking qualified candidates for the role of Medical Assistant at varying levels (I, II, III). The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level based on qualifications and experience. Primary Responsibilities:

Oral and maxillofacial surgery assistants must have completed their training or have dental assisting experience within the past two (2) years and must have at least three (3) additional months of assisting experience in either an office based out-patient surgery practice or the operating room.
Certifications: Shall be certified in basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) that is approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association and reads Healthcare Provider Course in the subjects listed prior to beginning performance at the Dental Health. Contributes to the organization by accurately collecting and documenting exam information into the electronic medical record system for the Ophthalmologist while maintaining patient flow within the clinic.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Correctly summarizes and documents the patient exam for the physician including but not limited to, proper charting of the examination, documenting additions to the chief complaint, assessment, and recommendations for treatment.
Observes the patient and the physician and assists when appropriate during the exam, including but not limited to, holding the patients head in the slit lamp, and providing additional medications and/or instruments.
Maintains an awareness of the patients verbal and non-verbal communication when the physician is providing instructions and reviewing patient education materials.
Prepares and ensures all consent forms are complete and accurate prior to in-office procedures.
Prepares referral letters as directed by the physician, via dictation or summary of the medical record.
Ensures that referral letters and copies of pertinent reports or tests are sent daily to all referring physicians involved in the patients care.
Performs preliminary testing assessing visual health of patient.
Assists with minor procedures.
Prepares and cleans room after procedure.
Provides quality patient care for all patients, directly or indirectly.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Reviews all data for errors and misspellings.
Assists in the training of other ophthalmic scribes.
Ability to adapt to frequent changes within the clinic without loss of efficiency or composure.
When not in exam room, the scribe may assist with various secretarial duties including but not limited to, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, refilling prescriptions with doctor consent, and answering various questions pertaining to the practice.
Must meet and adhere to HEAs policies and procedures, uphold to the highest ethical principles and patient confidentiality. Complies with all State and Federal regulations.
Other duties as assigned based on business operational needs.
