Responsibilities
Performs and results waived point-of-care testing such as urine pregnancies, urine dipsticks, rapid strep screens, RSV, influenza, and Hem occult testing.
Correctly enter patient demographic and billing information into the hospital admitting system. Understands insurance policy numbers and carrier codes. Verifies diagnosis with test order for Medicare reimbursement. Prints the ABN and obtains necessary patient information on required situations. Provides accurate communication to assist outpatients in the Medicare process.
Accurately identify and obtain blood specimens from patients of all ages, employees, etc. as requested by authorized personnel (i.e. physicians, nurses, residents) using correct technique and appropriate equipment. Maintains productivity at a rate comparable to other experienced staff (6-8 patients per hour).
Reads, interprets and correctly enters outpatient and non-patient physician orders, questioning any unclear order with supervisor. Rechecks the order for errors, making any necessary corrections. Performs cancellations requested by authorized personnel using proper documentation.
Participates in the collection of special procedures (ISP, drug screens, EBT, cultures, Influenza/RSV's, research studies, bone marrows, capillary collections, therapeutic phlebotomy, cortisol stimulation testing, etc.). Assist non-laboratory personnel with specimen requirements and collection procedures.
Ensures specimen integrity by adhering to appropriate laboratory packaging protocols. Ensures that all specimens received from client and physician offices are documented against packing lists and follows up with the site in the event all specimens are not received. Completes tracking logs and prepares specimens for courier pick up.
Monitors daily phlebotomy actions by the use of various computer programs and logs (ORV, collection list, will call board, etc.). Maintains specimen tracking by correctly logging in all specimens with the correct time and date of specimen collection.
Maintains Phlebotomy and clerical areas in a clean and orderly manner. Order and maintain supplies and keep areas stocked accordingly.Inputs all faxed orders into the lab orders database, questioning any illegible order, calls physician's office with clarification of test order and patient demographics and order request (standing or one time).
Communicates telephone or verbal messages effectively to appropriate lab divisions, personnel or administrative staff. Provides effective communication to the outpatient either in person or by telephone. Gives patient test results to nursing units and physician offices in accordance with medical center policies either verbally or by fax communication.Performs other related work as required or requested.

Back Office Responsibilities:

10) Handle and process billing information daily

13) Collect co-payments and past due balances from patients at check-in/check-out desk
14) Coordinate and process referral information for managed care patients
15) Process medical records requests

We are looking for an energetic individual who has a passion to improve the lives of children living with disabilities and their families. There are opportunities to lead in the development of the Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Cerebral Palsy Program at OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois. This program is a collaboration of pediatric specialists in orthopedic surgery, neurodevelopmental pediatrics, neurosurgery, nutrition, occupational and physical therapies, speech and language pathology, nursing and social work. There is approval from the leadership at OSF CHOI to participate with the Cerebral Palsy Research Network and this process has been started. There is a well-established Multidisciplinary Spina Bifida Program for children and adults.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in education at all levels-locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Medical students, residents and fellows participate in our clinics. There is support for research with the university as well as with the hospital.
Position Summary
The Division of Child Development and Rehabilitation at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria is recruiting a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician with expertise in care for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. They will participate in inpatient consultation, outpatient assessment and management, and interdisciplinary care for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. There is ample opportunity for teaching, research, quality improvement, advocacy, and community involvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Assessment and management of children with physical disabilities in the outpatient clinic
* Inpatient consult and follow-up of patients admitted to CHOI with brain injury, spinal cord injury, physical injury.
* Follow-up of patients at Almost Home Kids, a transition to home program
* Management of movement disorders such as spasticity, and dystonia.
* Participation in the Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Cerebral Pasly Program and the Multidisciplinary Spina Bifida Program.
* Teaching medical students, residents and fellows
* Community involvement to enhance the lives of children with disabilities and their families
Minimum Qualifications
* M.D or equivalent
* Board Certification in PM&R

Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical setting are desirable but not required.
JOB DUTIES: Responsibilities include but are not limited to the provision of the following services:
Assists Dental Officer in dental specialty sections: restorative, oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, prosthetics, and examinations
Retrieves patient's records and escorts patients to proper dental specialty section; seats and prepares patient for attending Dental Officer
Assists Dental Officer by preparing dental instruments, essential materials, drugs, and medications
Passes instruments, retracts tissues, irrigates oral cavities, and operates aspirator
Observes patient's responses, and assists patient for dismissal from the Dental Clinic
Give instructions for subsequent dental appointments
Makes necessary entries on dental treatment records (both electronic and paper records)
Prepares dental treatment room for the next patient
Assists in the treatment of emergency cases.
Provides dental health education
Performs Dental prophylaxes - polishing of coronal portion of teeth, if the assistant is a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) or Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA).
Performs Dental screening examinations
Prepare patients for periodontal surgery
Completes dental and periodontal charting
Prepares, places, and removes packs
Place temporary fillings (RDA, EFDA)
Places and removes rubber dams
Maintains dental equipment
Cleans, sharpens, and sterilizes instruments
Performs daily inspection of equipment and makes minor repairs
Reports defective equipment, or institutes corrective action
Uses dental hand instruments, mechanical instruments (including ultrasonic), oral hygiene aides and prophylaxis paste to provide necessary oral prophylactic services
Prepares entries for patient's records
Select and apply medication in proper portion and anti-cariogenic agents to surface of teeth. Applies medication prescribed by a Dental Officer to gingiva to promote healing
Fabricates and repairs dental prostheses and appliances under supervision
Performs procedures pursuant to fabrication and repair of complete denture prostheses and removable partial prostheses
Uses acrylic resins and porcelain as basic materials
Takes radio graphs of patients using digital intraoral and panoramic dental radiography
Obtains diagnostic quality periapical, occlusal, lateral jaw, and TMJ radiographs
Correctly position patient and sensor
Determines level of radiation intensity to minimize radiation exposure of patients
Processes and saves digital radiographs to patient medical records
Maintains proper infection control procedures in radiographic techniques
Sterilizes contaminated biological waste of dental clinic
Places and finish dental restorations, including bases and liners
Make primary impressions and pour casts
Selects tooth shade for composite restorations and dentures
Maintains accurate sharps and instrument inventories
Maintains logs for surface disinfectants, autoclave maintenance, chair filters maintenance, and vacuum pump filters
Maintains sterilization logs
