In addition, the Certified Dental Assistant will assist our patients make appointments, assuring their attendance, and connecting them to support services. The Certified Dental Assistant will be responsible for establishing and cultivating relationships with community stakeholders and providers.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & FUNCTIONS
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
* Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs
* Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist
* Map out each plan of care and work with individual patients to connect them to free or reduced-cost dental services within the community where they can take their next step in care.
* Facilitate examinations to patients who otherwise might not receive care.
* Address patient concerns and work to resolve the issues surrounding them. For example, individuals struggling with transportation barriers may receive a gas card or vouchers for public or private transportation fares (e.g., bus pass, Uber credit).
* Create a process that will increase the likelihood that a patient will follow up with needed dental treatment.
* Coordinate local dentists willing to provide free care during community clinic days and recruit volunteers.
* Track outcomes including number of dentists providing free or reduced-cost services, number of patients accessing transportation, number of patients who receive oral health assessments, number of patients referred for oral health services, number of patients who receive subsequent dental care and other metrics as identified.
* Assist with reporting program outcomes.
* Coordinate community clinics pop-up clinics with other TWC staff including patient engagement and communication.
* Conduct orientation for any new providers and volunteers.
* Schedule appointments, prepare bills and receive payment for dental services
* Complete insurance forms and maintain clerical records manually or using a computer
CLINIC DUTIES
* Prepare patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist dentist and dental hygienist during dental procedures
* Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patient
* Expose dental diagnostic x-rays
* Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts. Pour, trim and polish study casts, fabricate custom impression trays from preliminary impressions, clean and polish removable appliances and fabricate temporary restorations
* Record treatment information in patient records
* Clean teeth using dental instruments
* Apply protective coating of fluoride to teeth
* Assist dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies
* Acquire bids and purchase equipment as needed
* Participate in weekly program team huddles
* Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 1-3 years experience in a dental environment
* Pleasant and courteous personality, along with strong phone and computer skills
* Experience with dental health maintenance, use of dental technology, infection control, health promotion, performing diagnostic procedures, etc.
* Experience with dental practice management software such as Dentrix
* Radiologic certification by the PA State Board of Dentistry

Summary

Job Duties

Coordinate and perform patient check-in/check-out, ensuring accurate registration and information collection. Maintain electronic medical records (EMR), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Maintaining all required logs includes but is not limited to quality control logs and stat cart checks.
Measurement and collection of patient data including temperature, pulse, oxygenation saturation, respirations, blood pressure, height, weight, and in indicated pediatric patients, length, and head circumference. Ensure accurate documentation in the medical record.
Assist providers with the collection of patient information including reason for visit, chief complaint, health history, allergies and current medications for provider review.
Complete patient rooming process and implement standard operating procedures to expedite the care process and provide patient comfort. Identify patient risks and communicate them to the provider. Prepare and maintain exam rooms, ensuring proper sanitation and supply stocking.
Collect and prepare lab specimens and complete necessary requisitions.
Administer medications and vaccinations per provider orders and established protocols within their scope of practice.
Support patient procedures and assist with medical examinations.
Complete follow-up phone calls to all patients within two to three days post discharge.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
Minimum of 1-year of previous experience as a Caregiver or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting (experience may depend on state requirements)
Must be able to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff members
Must be able to perform job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
Must complete Medication Aide training (and certification in states where required)
Essential Functions:
Provides medicationassistance for residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy including; pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation
Assists in maintaining the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner
Accepts responsibility for accurate medication counts and for the security of the medication cart and medication storage room for assigned shifts
May be called upon to assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility, as needed
Engages residents in meaningful conversation, socialization, and activity while providing personal care and medicationassistance
Responds to all resident needs and/or requests for care promptly, and provides or obtains assistance with care as necessary
Upholds Residents' Rights at all times
Supports and upholds all company policies and care philosophy
Observes residents for changes in physical, emotional, mental, or behavioral condition, unusual symptoms, medication side effects, accidents, injuries, or unusual occurrences, and reports promptly to a licensed nurse
Completes all documentation such as medication administration records, incident reports, change of condition reports, and behavior tracking, as requested, and in a timely manner
Assists in the dining room during resident meal times as needed
Encourages residents to participate in scheduled activities and outings, and provides residents with opportunities for self-expression and enhanced self-esteem through spontaneous individual or small group interaction and activity
May be called upon to assist with Caregiver housekeeping responsibilities.

Job Description:
Raritan Valley Community College's Workforce Training Center is seeking experienced professionals to teach non-credit courses in Emergency Medical Response (EMR). The EMR Instructor teaches foundational emergency care knowledge and hands-on skills to a diverse student population, including adult learners, career-changers, and dual-enrolled high school students. This role supports workforce development pathways in EMS, healthcare, and public safety by delivering engaging, competency-based instruction aligned with state and national EMR standards.
Essential Duties:
Instruction & Student Engagement
* Teach Emergency Medical Response, First Aid, and CPR/AED courses using interactive, student-centered methods.
* Provide clear demonstrations of patient assessment, emergency interventions, and proper use of medical equipment.
* Facilitate realistic simulations and scenario-based training appropriate for both adult learners and high school students.
* Support learners with varying levels of academic readiness and life experience, ensuring an inclusive and encouraging classroom environment.
* Communicate course expectations, safety protocols, and performance standards clearly and consistently.
Classroom & Laboratory Management
* Prepare lesson plans, skills stations, lab materials, and simulation environments.
* Maintain a safe, organized, and respectful learning environment for students of differing ages and backgrounds.
* Ensure all EMR equipment (manikins, AED trainers, supplies, etc.) is functional, sanitized, and set up properly for each class session.
* Monitor student participation to ensure competency development in accordance with certification guidelines.
Assessment & Documentation
* Assess student learning using written exams, skills evaluations, demonstrations, and scenario performance.
* Provide timely, constructive feedback and offer remediation opportunities when needed.
* Accurately maintain attendance, grades, and certification documentation per college and regulatory guidelines.
* Prepare students for EMR certification exams and help them understand academic and career pathways.
Collaboration & Professional Development
* Collaborate with program coordinators, faculty, staff, and high school partners to support course alignment and student success.
* Participate in department meetings, required trainings, and professional development to stay current with EMR protocols.
* Uphold community college values of accessibility, equity, and support for diverse learners.
Requirements:
Current certification as an Emergency Medical Responder, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, or higher.
Approved instructor certification in EMR, First Aid, or CPR/AED (AHA, ARC, or equivalent), or the ability to obtain quickly.
Minimum 1-2 years of field experience in EMS, fire service, emergency response, or public safety.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with both adult learners and high school students.
Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to EMR training standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior teaching or training experience in a community college or adult education setting.
Experience working with dual-enrollment or high school students.
Associate degree or higher in EMS, fire science, emergency management, healthcare, or related field.
Experience using LMS platforms and digital instructional tools.
