SUMMARY
Provides patient care support to licensed providers and serves as liaison between patient and healthcare provider.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares patients for visit by directing/accompanying patients to the examining or X-ray room, providing gowns/drapes, and assisting with proper positioning of patient for the examination and/or treatment;
Interviews patient and records medical histories, may order x-rays per provider order or protocol, or obtain resuts from imaging facilities;
Assists health care providers during examinations as directed. Duties may include, but are not limited to, performing dressing changes, taking vital signs, preparing and drawing up injectable medications, labeling medications for administration by provider, applying/removing casts/splints, removing sutures/staples, preparing laboratory test requests, preparing lab specimen for pick-up per protocol;
Generates orders for prescriptions, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation therapy, DME, etc. as directed by provider; inputs into EMR.
Schedules follow-up appointments, tests, test results, procedures, and injections with designated provider or facility.
Coordinates all aspects of surgery scheduling according to surgery scheduling protocols. This includes obtaining medical clearances, precertifications, consents, submitting orders and scheduling preassesment, preoperative and postoperative appointments.
Reconciles patient health history information at visit, updates any additional information pertinent to patient care and scans various documentation into EMR. Such documentation includes hospital dictation, disability forms, laboratory test requests, medical clearances or any other correspondence as directed after obtaining provider signature.
Triages patient correspondence received by phone, voicemail or patient portal in adherence to policy. Documents patient correspondence into EMR system and advises patient provider plan of action.
Maintains exam rooms which may include the following: prepares exam rooms including stocking of appropriate supplies, instruments, and equipment for examination of patients daily. Cleans exam rooms according to protocol between patient examinations. Disposes any contaminated materials appropriately.
Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments and equipment.
Other duties may also be assigned by Providers, RNs, and managers.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares disability and other forms for provider signature.
Inventories and orders medical supplies.

Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent, Current Basic Life Support (CPR, BLS) certificates

Performs periodic audits of Individuals' records in office and Individuals' homes, committee reports, and in-service manuals to assure conformance with state and federal regulations.
Reviews Individuals case records for accuracy, current notes, medical records, ISP, DMA 06, DMA 80, supervisory conferences, and supervisory visits. Places all appropriate documents in Individuals books office and home. Uploads appropriate documents in current Software based on MAA/DEC daily assignments and completion of ISPs and etc. Checks for missing medication, recaps, and notes daily. Notifies Human Resource and DDP of the missing medication notes and recaps, notifying Direct Support Professionals of missing work through appropriate software.
Responsible for assisting DDP in making monthly reports/calls to Individuals Parents notifying them of visits/appointments that have taken place and addressing or asking if there are any concerns they may have. This call should be done at the end of each month.
Assist Human Resource and DDP in arranging staff education/training on new findings.
Encouraging and assisting personnel to continue self-improvement through formal education, educational meetings, and active participation in professional and related organizations.

Medication Administration
Follow the six 'rights" of medicationassistance (right resident, right drug, right dosage, right time, right route, right record/documentation) each and every time assistance with a medication occurs. Check each of the six "rights" of medicationassistance three different times: when the medication is taken out of the medication cart, immediately before assisting with the medication, and immediately after assisting with the medication
Administer medications to residents according to their Medication Observation Record (MOR) and protect resident privacy. Provide residents with any treatments required as part of their Resident Care Plan as designated. Document clearly and accurately on the Medication Observation Record (MOR) after a medication is taken/given, refused, held, discontinued, changed, disposed of, returned, following the Oaks Senior Livening policy.
Respect the residents' right to refuse medication/treatment. Protect the residents' safety with medications. Explain to the resident what medication is being given and why, prior to assisting with medication.
Observe the resident for any adverse reaction to a medication and report it to the Wellness Director and/or the Executive Director immediately. Report all medication errors honestly and immediately.
Communications
Attend all regular staff meetings and required in-service training sessions.
Effectively communicate residents' needs with caregiver staff at change of shift according to the Oaks Senior Living policies and procedures. Effectively communicate to the Wellness Director and/or the Executive Director any changes noted in a resident's condition or behavior, adverse reaction to a medication, any resident or family member concerns, complaints, refusal of a medication, any errors noted on the Medication Observation Record (MOR).
Ensure required paperwork for providing resident care is completed and up-to-date.

Job Description
Peachtree Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled MedicalAssistant to join our healthcare team. Candidate must be motivated by creating a good patient experience. The MedicalAssistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office by assisting with patient care, supporting clinicians, and managing office tasks. This role involves patient triaging, clinician assistance, and office management to provide exceptional care and maintain an efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinician Assistance:
Work with clinician to complete necessary documentation for patient care.
Work in EMR and across other patient communication platforms to ensure that all patient questions are answered.
Work across all clinicians in a clinic.
Update and manage Accountable Care Organization (ACO)-associated quality measures.
Assist clinicians with patient examinations as needed.
Monitor and manage Clinician and assigned tasks, ensuring minimal outstanding patient requests.
Send relevant tasks to clinicians via EMR task box (e.g., controlled substance prescriptions).
Collaborate with clinicians and front office staff to ensure a smooth and timely flow of patient appointments.
Patient Triaging and Information Collection:
Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests including blood pressure, weight, and temperature.
Collect and summarize patient history for clinician review.
Verify patient information through interviews and confirm the purpose of the visit.
Secure and maintain patient information by completing and safeguarding medical records; perform diagnostic and procedure coding; uphold patient confidentiality.
Collect and prepare patient samples for laboratory tests.
Administer injections and medications as directed by physicians and as permitted by state law.
Office Management:
Notify the office manager when medical supplies are low and perform preventive maintenance to ensure medical equipment is operational.
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
Ensure the MedicalAssistant station and examination rooms are clean and organized at the end of each day.
Keep equipment operational by following operating instructions, troubleshooting issues, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and arranging for repairs as needed.
Complete additional assigned responsibilities as instructed and as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; certification as a MedicalAssistant preferred.
Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office as a MedicalAssistant is required.
Proficient in taking vital signs, collecting patient samples, and performing basic clinical tasks.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and diagnostic/procedure coding.
Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Remaining compliant with all OFHC, HIPAA and other government policies and regulations,
Cleaning exams rooms between patients,
Preparing and stocking exam rooms at the end of day, and
Other clinical duties as assigned.

Scribe experience
Pediatric experience
eClinical Works EMR knowledge a plus
