What You'll Do:

Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and gathering/documenting/updating pertinent health information (i.e., chief complaint, allergies, and/or medications). Communicates with Physician/APC and other members of the health care team to ensure smooth clinic flow and adjusts as necessary. Effectively communicates accurate and timely information with the patient.
May perform basic and advanced clinical support tasks or skills based on the specialty and appropriate competencies such as but not limited to removal of sutures and staples, laboratory procedures (throat/nose culture, drug screen), phlebotomy - butterfly, venous heel stick, EKG, spirometry, Holter monitor application, prescription refills using approved protocols, etc., under clinical supervision.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

The Medical Assistant - Apprentice works under the direction of a Medical Assistant mentor for on-the-job training to provide basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients' care, comfort, and safety. The Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program will provide Medical Assistant training to learn how to be a medical assistant at Marshfield Clinic Health System. No clinical experience is necessary for candidates. Once hired at Marshfield Clinic Health System one will need to be enrolled/accepted into the clinic paid Medical Assistant ICATAP program prior to starting the apprenticeship. You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a plasma donor screener and perform phlebotomy to support plasma center operations.
How you will contribute:
* You will greet donors as they enter and exit the donor floor.
* You will perform venipuncture of donors and programming of plasmapheresis machine.

Respond promptly to call lights and resident requests.
Escort residents to meals, activities, and to the lobby for appointments.
Assist in the dining room, provide beverages, and help with meal setup and takedown.
Accurately serves correct meal and texture, distributes appropriate assistive utensils and accurately documents meal intakes at mealtimes.
Perform laundry, make beds, and stock resident rooms with necessary supplies.
