Completes insurance and/or disability forms, precertification and/or authorizations, point of care testing, transcribing orders, or order entry (protocol). May be assigned to assist with bump lists, wait lists and appropriate WQs. May make appointments, including follow-up appointments for patients in a high customer service environment in an efficient and timely manner across the healthcare continuum including physician office visits, imaging, and lab post-visit and during patient outreach. Performs and documents in a timely and efficient manner patient outreach and call backs for messages received in pool, MyChart messaging and confirmation calls. May administer vaccines and documents appropriately and in accordance with established policies. May collect specimens and handles per establish protocols including proper labeling and safety handling. Assists physicians/providers with monitoring and reporting lab results. File all reports, labs, radiology reports and miscellaneous correspondence in EMR and attaches results to appropriate orders. May obtain prior authorization for medications, procedures, and testing. Successfully communicates with multidisciplinary team members and patients upholding our Mission, Vision and Values and adhering to Code of Ethical conduct. Maintains working knowledge of regulatory standards and is accountable to sustain these standards in daily operations. Requires flexibility and the ability to multitask in a face paced environment and adjust to the patient volume. May be asked to work at other Ambulatory offices based on volume. Other duties as assigned by the manager. Experience Required Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medicalassistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office. Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injection experience. Epic experience preferred. Excellent organizational, written/verbal communication and teamwork skills. Demonstrated performance of excellent customer service skills. Education Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent required. After the patient signs in at the front desk the MedicalAssistant greets the patient and escorts them in for office visits with the physician or nurse practitioner and lab work.
Transports patients safely using appropriate equipment such as wheelchairs.
Obtains patient vital signs, height and weight. Documents the information by entering it into the electronic medical record.
Ensures that exam rooms and physician offices are stocked with medical supplies, equipment and the appropriate paperwork.
Set-up for bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures and any other surgical and non-surgical procedures ordered for the patient.
Lab Specimen Collection:
After receiving and reviewing laboratory orders, obtain blood specimens.
Obtain blood specimens for analysis by finger stick or venipuncture depending on the specific test ordered. Identify the patient by having the patient state their first and last name and date of birth and compare it to the RCCA ID number.
Review all specimens for acceptability.
Instructs patients in the proper collection of twenty-four-hour urines. Verifies that the containers contain the proper preservative and instruct the patient in refrigeration or acid precautions if appropriate.
Lab Quality Control:
Investigate all out-of-range results and document the corrective action taken.
Laboratory Testing:
After assuring satisfactory QC and instrument function, perform CBC on the Hematology Analyzer. Review all results for acceptability, critical results, or clinically significant changes. Report critical values or significant changes to the physician. Maintain documentation of all results, or of any corrective action taken.
Process Bone Marrow biopsy specimens for transport to the appropriate reference laboratory for analysis.
Process all specimens for outside lab testing. Refer to manual for instructions.

Document appropriate and accurate patient data in NJIIS Registry, and provide patients/guardians with vaccine side effect education booklet as per NJ State requirement.
Maintain an accurate daily temperature log for refrigerator/freezer temperatures to assure vaccine and medication safety. Update the log monthly, file the log for previous month and send a copy to RN by 5th of each month
Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to infection control policies, practice standard precautions, and maintain cleanliness and safety of exam rooms. Complete required forms for referrals, prior authorizations, and specialty appointments. Maintain accurate logs for medical devices and perform regular Environment of Care (EOC) inspections.
Administrative Support: Manage patient referrals, prior authorizations, and assist with scheduling and tracking specialty appointments. Follow up on missed appointments, patient inquiries, and pending orders. Assist with daily EMR tasks, including managing "bucket" items and patient data documentation.
Staff Support & Training: Participate in staff development, orientation, and educational programs. Assist with the training of new staff and maintain current CPR certification. Utilize time management skills to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Equipment & Inventory: Maintain, stock, and manage inventory for exam rooms and medical equipment. Ensure proper paperwork and records for inventory control. Clean and prepare equipment for sterilization as required.
